I finally finished her redesign!
Did you know i've been trying to redesign her for almost 10 years since her last fully coloured appearance?
She has the ability to manipulate electromagnetic waves (but there are rumours that she could even manipulate dimensions)
She was created all the way back in 2014

This album is also partially inspired by other Touhou style composers, such as Wanwan, 戦ピー (Senpi), 深蒼穹 (Misora), Mana Kazami, and many many others
A new Incident descends upon Gensokyo, as the Celestial Realm has fallen under the control of a corrupted dragon godess who wishes to end Gensokyo
Tenshi has descended from the Celestial Realm to ask Reimu and Marisa for aid, so the three of them set out to restore the balance of Gensokyo once again

It's been 6 years since the release of my 2nd Touhou style album back in 2019 (Fraternity of Melancholy)
…And it's been 8 years since the release of my 1st Touhou style album in 2017 (Phantasm of Eternity)
I actually started composing Touhou style music all the way back in 2012
Oh no.
Has it really been 13 years? It's hard to imagine that, right?
(But i will keep making music forever, this is just the beginning!)
I remember when i was starting out as a teenager, there weren't many Touhou style composers yet (especially not outside of Japan, i was the first one in Europe even ^^''), but nowadays, i think there's more than a thousand Touhou style composers worldwide
I would say that at this point, Touhou style has already become a "genre" of music for a long time
Of course i still feel very inspired by ZUN, but i also feel like i want to add my own things to Touhou style music as well
This Touhou style album has a lot of experimental elements, such as a wider inclusion of progressive time signature and more jazz inspired harmonies, i wanted to create something that could stand on its own, and with a consistent theme, kind of like how Touhou 12 has a more jazz inspired theme with its music in general, and Touhou 13 has more trance-ish inspired themes
For this album, i was mainly inspired by Touhou 10.5: Scarlet Wheater Rhapsody, Touhou 12: Undefined Fantastic Object, and Touhou 12.8: Great Fairy Wars
I wanted to really bring out that "airy" feeling that some of the songs in Touhou 12 have, but also combined with that playful and "heavenly" yet melancholic feeling from Tenshi and Iku's themes (which are some of my favourites in all of Touhou)
So i would say that the "theme" of this album is "heavenly progressive airy jazz fusion", or whatever that means
I'm not very good at explaining these sort of things, i just sort of feel them, can you feel it too when you're listening to these songs? If so, then that means i have succeeded
Even if it's not those exact feelings, i hope that listening to this music makes you feel something in general, i always really like to make my music in a very emotion-focussed kind of way, i like prioritising the composition (since that's where my specialtiy lies)
Ah, what does it even mean for something to be "Touhou"? That's hard to describe right?
I've been doing this for 13 years, yet i kind of feel like some things are just not really possible to express using words
Sometimes, some feelings can only be expressed through music, so i will let the music do the talking for me

That's right, the era of me using PC-98 soundfonts is over, this is legitemate PC-98 FM PMD MML OPNA GANGNAM STYLE or whatever the usual chiptune people like to put in their video descriptions and titles

Then, back in 2014, i tried to learn how to make legit non-soundfont PC-98 PMD MML music, with the help of Mana Kazami
However, as you might have expected, it was too hard for me, so i gave up for 11 years
UNTIL NOW!
That's right, a surprise comeback, i have avenged the failures of my younger self!
Thanks to Pedipanol's awesome new and super helpful documentation, i was able to start re-learning how to make PC-98 MML music again https://mml-guide.readthedocs.io/
There are so many new tools available now, it is easier and more accessible than ever to make legitemate PC-98 music, especially compared to 11 years ago, so if you ever felt like it was too hard in the past, please try again, and read up on all the new tools and resources, there's a chance you'll actually be able to do it this time!
Oh, and this goes without saying, but i transcribed everything by ear of course, and i added some small new background details too like those background pianos on the right side near the end, i hope you like them hehe

Lucid Dreamer is an awesome song
I used to dislike it, i used to think it sounded like most of ZUN's other modern works, but the more i listened to it, the more the song grew on me, and eventually i started to appreciate its small details more and more (you could say i didn't know it was beautiful)
Sumireko as a character has also grown more on me in the recent few months, reading up about her lore more makes me feel really curious, she feels like one of the most unqiue characters in Gensokyo that really brings a unique dynamic, the idea of being stuck inside of a dream that is Gensokyo is actually quite creepy in a way, it's a dangerous place for people from the outside world

For this OST, since it's a hook platformer game, i was very inspired by Atsuhiro Motoyama and his work on the Umihara Kawase series, he's one of my biggest inspirations, so i wanted to arrange Touhou songs in a style inspired by his works (but it also has plenty of my own influences too, and there's also hints of Shogo Sakai and Kazumi Totaka vibes because i like those too)
