as a day 1 BAD truther, this month has been very good for me
Mingi and His Hyungs
If there's one thing I know about Mingi, it's that he loves a hyung. And they love him too. Whenever he is in the presence of an older man, they cannot help but want to treat him like a princess and then do terrible things to him.
Daesung took one look at Mingi rocked him in his lap like a baby.
So I'm making a very unorganized list of Mingi's hyungs. I am excluding his actual hyung and the two most important hyungs in his life.
do you know how hard it is to find a picture of them together?
BBTrippin-hyungs
Yes, this is cheating, because we're talking about a group of hyungs. But these guys adore Mingi. When asked to describe his dancing style, they said āfirst of all, heās the most cutie-patootie babygirl princess to ever exist.ā
Want more proof? Watch the Belgium vlog. Mingi is so excited to be included in their excursion. He looks like a lost baby chick the entire time, trailing after them.
Manager-hyung(s)
There are a handful of important manager-hyungs in Mingi's life, all of whom indulge him to varying degrees. There was handsome manager (miss you, king); there was the manager who was a head shorter than Mingi but nonetheless rubbed his back to calm him down like a child;
There's the manager whose face Mingi used as a phone wallpaper for years, and who may or may not be the same manager whose picture Mingi put on the back of his photo case, like a pc.
Of course, we must talk about Hot Springs Manager-hyung, who went on a very special trip to Japan with Mingi and became the main character of his vlog.
Studio-hyung
Mingi refers to this hyung as "the closest hyung that I know." There's been some speculation that he's the same hyung who he went to Japan with, but we don't know for sure.
k-mingtis have had their eye on this hyung for a while, who they refer to as "jak-hyung," an abbreviation of "studio-hyung."
...they have some pretty juicy gossip to share...
"Jak-hyung's existence is fascinating once again. Traveling with Mingi. Okay. Also close with Mingi's mother. Okay. Going to the sauna with Mingi and his mother. Umm... Okay. Spending time with Mingi and his mother during the holidays. Why?"
To quote k-mingtis: umm.. okay.
David Kim-hyung
This is a bit of a deep cut! Mingi met David Kim when he styled Mingi for his Marie Claire feature a couple of years ago.
From David-hyung, we know more about Mingi's endless generosity and care. You work with him once, and you become a friend for life.
They seemed to really hit it off...
If Mingi likes you, he remains loyal to you. David has since styled Mingi for multiple fashion week events.
this is the only pic I could find of him, from his profile. He's been styling Thai and Korean celebs since before 2020, so I'm inclined to thing he's older...I'm gonna call him a hyung for the sake of the narrative.
Raiden-hyung
I saved the most important hyung for last. DJ Raiden has been Mingi's cherished hyung for a while now, bringing Mingi to fancy parties as his plus-one, introducing Mingi to famous artists and musicians, inviting Mingi to attend his DJ set during a major EDM festival, where he played a remix of Mingi's solo track Autobahn...
I see you, sir!
As previously stated, Mingi is a loyal dongsaeng. He likely pulled strings to get Raiden invited to BST Hyde Park to do a DJ set, which Mingi attended. He happily danced to Raiden's remix of Roar, surrounded by a ring of stern-looking bodyguards.
"bestie" !!!
Honorable Mentions
Woosung from The Rose. There's some lore to this one! The Rose is Mingi's favorite band, and according to Woosung during a concert Q&A session, Mingi was originally supposed to feature on his song 'Never Let Go,' but couldn't because of scheduling differences.
Booba. Ateez's beloved staff photographer-hyung, who always takes the best shots of Mingi.
He clearly dotes on Mingi, from the clips I've seen of him following Mingi around at send-offs. He's always leaving the cutest comments on his IG posts!
Wetboy. I just learned about Wetboy. Apparently that's his name. He's been friends with Mingi since at least 2023 when they did a dance challenge together, but he came to my attention recently by hyping up Mingi's solo debut Dinero.
Teo Yoo. Remember when one of Mingi's side quests had him line-dancing with the guy from Past Lives?
Anyway, it's Mingi's world and we're just living in it.
Stray thoughts about minhwa Trouble Maker
TLDR: they deliberately fucked with gender and in doing it they sent a big āfuck youā to whoever wants to cage them in a particular role.
Disclaimer: as per usual, being a meta reading of a performance this enters the realm of rpf and is just my personal opinion. Iām not trying to state some truth, Iām just trying to explain why this performance blew my mind.
So, my brain is still stuck there. I got those damn 3 minutes and spares on loop all day long since day 1 of the fanmeeting. I got that whistling haunting me.Ā
Because it was hot as fuck? Sure.
Because it made one of my favourite pairings finally a hot topic once again? Also sure. Love it.
Because Mingi pulled off some ballroom dance moves with a proficiency that left me mesmerized? (And I dare some other male idol to top that tbh) Oh yeah, hell yeah. I love the way he dances and once again he showed us heās great at it.
Because the vocals were something else and I need KQ to release the studio version of them so I can bask in them? All the yes, they exceeded my wildest dreams.
Because for the first time someone in a boy group did an actual cover, full on performance, of Trouble Maker and not a parody of it for shit and giggles? Absolutely. Fucking finally.
But also because of the gender fuckery it was going on, and I donāt mean it in general, but in relation to Mingiās and Seonghwaās idol personas. Imho they made a statement with this performance about themselves and gender stereotypes, a really bold and loud one, and I didnāt think I could appreciate them more than I already did, and yet.
Think about it. They subverted the expectations the fans might have had for them if they knew beforehand about the performance. No really, think about it.
Mingiās stage persona, FixOn, is the representation of the stereotypical fuckboy alpha male imaginary. We all know itās drag, we all know itās part of the performance and that Mingi is so much more multifaceted than that, still, since his stage persona fully developed, he never performed as anything other than that (aside from Mingi Wonka, but that too is not a feminine persona), so a lot of fans are prone to forget it, even if he has always been vocal about being different from his stage persona, both in pop lives and formal interviews.
On the other side, Seonghwa loves to fuck with gender becasue the male stereotypes are too limiting for him, we all know it because he said it himself, and he fucked with it so much that by now a lot of fans cast him by default in a female role (think about the pronouns used for him on socmeds and so on), but the point is that Hwa loves to fuck with gender, so I think that just as he doesn't like not being able to express himself beyond the classic male stereotype, he doesn't like being caged only in the female one either, finding it restrictive.
I understand why Seonghwa told Mingi heād take full responsibility of the falldown with the fans if things were going to go sideways, because they literally took all the preconceptions and stereotypes the fans projected on them and threw them in their faces and that, in a job that relies on fans approval, is brave and bold as fuck.
That wouldnāt have been the message if they took the parody way like everyone did before them in fanmeets, but they performed Trouble Maker as intended instead, delving deep into their characterās roles and portraying them with a level of perfromanship that left me in awe. And that is what makes the performance a big āfuck youā to whoever wants to cage them in a predefinite role. And thatās why I have so much respect for them.

this sims 2 ad has like such deep gay energy to it. Like this feels like queer history to me
The funny thing is that it wasn't even an intentional stance taking. They just forgot to code a check to make sure characters genders "matched", resulting in that characters could get into relationships regardless of gender.
What the hell are you talking about? They didn't forget anything. A programmer for the sims 1 was a gay man who programmed gay relationships into the game and they kept adding it back, intentionally, in each game.
Actually, youāre both correct. It was an accident and a deliberate decision by one gay developer:
āDuring The Simsās protracted development, the team had debated whether to permit same-sex relationships in the game. If this digital petri dish was to accurately model all aspects of human life, from work to play and love, it was natural that it would facilitate gay relationships. But there was also fear about how such a feature might adversely affect the game. āNo other game had facilitated same-sex relationships beforeāat least, to this extentāand some people figured that maybe we werenāt the ideal ones to be first, as this was a game that E.A. really didnāt want to begin with,ā Barret told me. āIt felt to me like a fear thing.ā After going back and forth for several months, the team finally decided to leave same-sex relationships out of the game code.
When Barrett joined the company, in October, 1998, he was unaware of the decision. A fortnight into his new job, he found himself with nothing to do when his supervisor, the gameās lead programmer, Jamie Doornbos, took a short vacation. Jim Mackraz, Barrettās boss, needed a task to occupy his new employee, and he handed Barrett a document that outlined how social interactions in the game would work; the underlying rules for the gameās A.I. that would dictate how the characters would dynamically interact with one another. āHe didnāt think I could handle it with Jamie off on vacation, but he figured that at least Iād be out of his hair,ā Barrett told me. āNeither he nor I realized that heād given me an old design document to work from.ā
That design document predated the decision to exclude gay relationships in the game. Its pages described a web of social interactions, in which every kind of romantic relationship was permitted. That week, Barrett confounded the expectations of his disbelieving boss. He successfully wrote the basic code for social interactions, including same-sex relationships. āIn hindsight, I probably should have questioned the design,ā Barrett, who is gay, said. āBut the design felt right, so I just implemented it. Later, Will Wright stopped by my desk,ā Barrett said. āHe told me that liked the social interactions, and that he was glad to see that same-sex support was back in the game.ā Nobody on the team questioned Barrettās work. āThey just pretty much ignored it,ā he said. āAfter a while, everyone was just used to the design being there. It was widely expected that E.A. would just kill it, anyway.ā
In early 1999, before E.A. had a chance to kill the design, Barrett was asked to create a demo of the game to be shown at E3. The demo would consist of three scenes from the game. These were to be so-called on-rails scenesānot a true, live simulation but one that was preplanned, and which would shake out the same way each time it was played, in order to show the game in its best light. One of the scenes was a wedding between two Sims characters. āI had run out of time before E3, and there were so many Sims attending the wedding that I didnāt have time to put them all on rails,ā Barrett said.
On the first day of the show, the gameās producers, Kana Ryan and Chris Trottier, watched in disbelief as two of the female Sims attending the virtual wedding leaned in and began to passionately kiss. They had, during the live simulation, fallen in love. Moreover, they had chosen this moment to express their affection, in front of a live audience of assorted press.ā
- from The Kiss That Changed Video Games by Simon Parker
š¬: How was todayās shoot? āļø: I felt a bit strange. The outfit style was very similar to the vibe I used to pursue in the past. So it felt like seeing my past self, but it also felt mixed with who I am now. Should I say it felt like my past self and my present self were together? I think my fans will find it refreshing when they see it too. I always like trying new things. Since there are limits to human potential, I wondered, is it possible for me to show a new side of me here yet again? But I'm happy that I could show a new side through this collaboration with ARENA.
š¬: I heard you gave a lot of input during the shoot. It seems you tend to participate actively during photoshoots? āļø: I try to give as much input as I can within my capabilities. Of course, if the creative team has a specific direction they are pursuing I sometimes leave it entirely up to them. After all, my own ideas ultimately come from my own perspective, so they could end up being repetitive. My mindset is to always accept the directions recommended to me openly. Today, I really clicked with the stylist. Thatās why the synergy was so good.
š¬: Seeing how you offer your input while being aware of even the smallest details, you must genuinely enjoy doing photoshoots. āļø: I really love it. I feel like my personal satisfaction level goes up every time I do a photoshoot. Although I am currently active as an idol, I consider these photoshoots as a time to develop my own color. There is a side I show as part of the team, and then there is a side I can show as an individual. Thatās why I cherish these moments.
š¬: I heard your time participating in the Paris Collection was also memorable. What was particularly different this time? āļø: Iāve walked the runway three times so far, and this time I really prepared a lot. Since it was my third time, I had accumulated experience and practiced a lot. So I was less nervous and was able to enjoy the experience with a bit more professionalism. Of course, professional models might still see many areas for improvement, but because I personally put in so much effort I was able to be satisfied with myself.
š¬: Do you prepare in advance regarding what kind of vibe you want to express before walking the runway? āļø: I always think about it, but there are difficulties. I don't know what clothes, shoes, or hairstyle I will wear until the day before. So I prepare for every possible scenario. I try walking powerfully, then try walking with a slightly more relaxed and slower vibe. Then, once I find out what I'll be wearing, I adjust accordingly. I even practice walking in the hotel hallways the night before (laughs). In the morning, I go to the gym and do some image training too. I'm the type to plan out every single detail. That way, I don't have any regrets. I do everything I can so that even if I fail, I won't feel ashamed of myself.
š¬: Group activities and solo activities must feel quite different, what is the difference? āļø: The difference in pressure is huge. When I promote with the team, there aren't many situations that feel particularly stressful. That's because I have members who are like family by my side. On the other hand, the pressure increases when I'm alone. I believe that I exist because ATEEZ exists. I'm not just Seonghwa, "ATEEZ" stands always in front of my own name, and because I go out as ATEEZ's Seonghwa, I feel I have to do even better. People will recognize me and think, "Oh, this guy is in ATEEZ." When I work solo people only look at me and judge me by my actions, skills, and attitude, so my standards for myself become higher. Of course, there is that kind of pressure, but there are also great advantages like being able to fulfill what I personally want to do, just like in today's photoshoot.
š¬: With that mindset, returning to the team after finishing solo activities must bring a special feeling. āļø: When I first did solo activities it felt fascinating. It wasn't so much that I liked the moment when all eyes were solely focused on me, it simply felt fascinating. I realized, "Ah, so this is what doing solo activities feels like." When I meet up with the members after doing individual schedules or returning from vacation, I feel so at ease. Now, where the members are feels like home. Even when I visit my parents' home, meeting the members puts me at ease. Seeing the seven of us, including myself, still being a bit immature (with each other) just warms my heart. Itās fascinating how I grow more affectionate and fond of them as time goes by.
š¬: What do you think is the reason the ATEEZ members are so close? āļø: It's probably because we went through so many difficult times together. We didn't start out in a big company, and in a market where you never know when you might disappear, we felt anxious every single day. But things have changed now. We are now able of doing so many things and we've gained confidence. We were able to get through that process safely because the members were together. Also, the members are all very considerate. We blend so well with each other, one might wonder, "where on earth did they find friends like this?"
š¬: You released two mini-albums in the first half of the year. What did you pay special attention to while preparing? āļø: I put a lot of effort into the recording process. This song was created by a producer team in the UK so the local producer's voice was in the guide track and capturing that exact vibe was really difficult. It was a challenge for me as well. To perform it I did a lot of image training to figure out what kind of character I should act out. It wasn't easy since during that period the preparations for the fashion show and the recording overlapped, but I remember preparing (for it) really hard.
š¬: If actors grow after finishing a project, singers grow after releasing an album. What did you gain after wrapping up these promotions? āļø: I gained another character as Seonghwa. I like changing my style to fit the music with every album. I now have a pretty good idea of what makes me look handsome and cool, but if I only ever do that I feel like I'm stuck in that same place. Since I am ATEEZ's Seonghwa, I believe I need to find a version of myself that fits within ATEEZ's music. Of course, it isn't easy. I feel like I hit a wall every time. It would be most comfortable if I just did what suited me best, but for now I still believe it's right to keep challenging myself. In that sense, these promotions were also a time for me to create yet another character of my own.
š¬: Are you naturally someone who enjoys new changes and challenges? Or did you change because you felt it was important while promoting as ATEEZ? āļø: I changed over the course my career. Originally, my taste was so distinct that there was even a saying "Park Seonghwa's closet", because back in our trainee days my taste was so clear that the members could look at an item and immediately say, "this is Seonghwa hyung's." But as I kept promoting, at some point, my concept gradually grew more intense. While the concept was getting stronger, if I kept insisting on keeping the same style I felt like I was just staying stuck in one place. That's why I started pursuing various styles and, as I did, I came to like that as well. Of course, after over 7 to 8 years, I do fall into a dilemma sometimes. The desire to keep doing what suits me well clashes with the feeling that I need to try something new. Still, I think I learn from that process.
š¬: It seems "style" here doesn't just refer to fashion alone āļø: It includes attitude as well. For example, when we were promoting Adrenaline, I wanted to show the image of a strong warrior. The vibe was kind of like a fantasy character in a post-apocalyptic world. On the other hand, while promoting BAD this time, I didn't mean I was actually a bad guy, but within that title I wanted to become one. So I went for a more intense styling and tried to give off a slightly more cocky vibe with my facial expressions too. It feels like I'm tailoring myself to a specific role depending on the song. I like adopting those attitudes. Of course, that shouldn't carry over into my daily life, it's only who I am on stage.
š¬: Then what kind of person is Seonghwa off the stage in his daily life? āļø: When I'm out having fun it still feels like I'm a high school kid (laughs). If I see something cute I want to buy it, and I also like things like miniatures. I enjoy taking walks and meeting up with friends too.
š¬: It seems the strong character you immerse yourself in on stage doesn't affect your daily life. āļø: I'm actually pretty good at switching on and off. I don't get too absorbed in my roles. On stage, I stay in character to fit the performance, but in daily life I naturally switch back from that persona.
š¬: If you find joy in creating a persona and immersing yourself in it, aren't you also interested in acting? āļø: I would love to do it if the opportunity arose. But I believe it's right to do it only when I'm truly prepared. Although I have participated in a project before, I haven't properly learned acting yet. When the opportunity comes someday and if I'm prepared, I want to try. (It means) I shouldn't cause any trouble for those who are currently working hard in acting. Me wanting to do it and the audience being satisfied with it are two different things. Ultimately, it's a profession where you have to do well. I want to prepare thoroughly and take on the challenge.
š¬: It sounds like right now, you prefer to focus on group activities. āļø: That's right. That's part of it too. Right now, doing group activities perfectly is extremely important. I also worry, "What if taking my attention elsewhere affects the team negatively?" Since we plan to promote and we look at ATINY for a long time, I think doing it later won't be too late. I just feel like it is right to focus a little more on team activities right now.
š¬: It has already been about eight years since your debut. You've grown beyond comparison compared to back then, haven't you? What is the area where you feel you've grown the most? āļø: My mindset. Iām someone with a weak mentality, you know? I still canāt say Iām strong, but during this time Iāve learned a lot about how to overcome things on my own, how to comfort and love myself. Of course, there are still days when I break down. When that happens, I just tell ATINY that things have been a bit hard lately. Itās not because I want them to notice or do something for me, I just want to share even these emotions with them. I go back and forth between wanting to hide the negative feelings because Iām afraid they might worry and not wanting to hide them at all despite that.
š¬: In what areas did you try to overcome things yourself? āļø: Self-esteem. I worked really hard to boost my self-esteem. IIt has improved quite a bit now, but back when I was a trainee I felt that the members next to me were so good at dancing, singing and rapping, and also had outstanding looks, so I could never be satisfied with myself. I was supposed to compete only with myself, but constantly comparing myself to the members was eating away at me. Then, after debuting and meeting ATINY, I started to change little by little. I also learned how to love myself. Now, I want to share this story with people who are going through similar struggles.
š¬: Struggling with self-esteem is so difficult to overcome that anyone would want to know the secret. How did you manage to so such a difficult thing? āļø: You have to acknowledge and accept it. In the past, I couldn't admit my shortcomings, but once I accepted that I was lacking and changed my mindset toward trying harder, my inferiority complex disappeared. The envy and jealousy I felt looking at others disappeared, and eventually only comparisons with myself remained. That is what's truly important.
š¬: Have you gotten used to world tours and being under the spotlight? āļø: I thought I had gotten used to it but this time, when we headlined the BST Hyde Park festival in London, I teared up on stage. I was just so happy. As I was looking at the fans I thought, "Ah, I'm still not used to moments like these." Of course, as it something repetitive, there might be days when I get exhausted or feel like I just want to finish quickly and rest. However, even if it's just for one person who came to see us, I try my best. The tears were also because of gratitude.
š¬: So is being on stage the moment you shine the brightest? āļø: That's right. I feel alive. The stage is our reason for existence. That's why we can't afford to take any concert or any tour lightly. All eight of us share the same mindset of doing our best, even if for just one person.
š¬: What aspects did you specifically want to showcase during the last tour? āļø: While preparing for my solo stage, I wanted to build an image that is uniquely my own. I thought, "What is an image that only I can show within ATEEZ?" I considered that expressing conceptual and fantastical elements is my strength, so I put a lot of thought into everything, from the costumes to the stage direction. Since the concept was a snake, I prepared a performance where I took off my jacket, as if shedding skin. I thought this was an absolutely crucial part so I was incredibly nervous before doing it. I hoped ATINY would be surprised and seeing their reaction was truly thrilling.
š¬: You plan to continue expanding Seonghwa's unique worldview in the future, right? āļø: If possible I would like to expand it. "What would a story unique to Seonghwa, derived from ATEEZ, be like?", I have thoughts like that all the time.
š¬: Since youāve been touring the world performing, I suppose you could say youāve achieved the dreams you held in the past, right? Even so, other dreams arise, right? What is a new dream of yours? āļø: I didn't think I would have any new dreams but they keep coming up. Itās fascinating how various dreams emerge one by one, even if they arenāt grand, like wanting to publish a book someday, participate in a fencing competition or play the guitar on stage. As a team too, in the past we had the dream of making it onto the Billboard 200 chart, and we've achieved that. We also achieved our dream of entering the Billboard Hot 100. Because of that, a new dream also emerged, that maybe we could win first place on all three major music shows. When we won first place on all three shows with GOLDEN HOUR : Part4 this time, I actually cried. "What we've done all this time wasn't in vain," that's what I felt. "As you live, a day like this actually comes."
š¬: Youāve come this far while achieving countless dreams, and a lot has changed along the way. Even so, if there is one thing that hasn't changed from the beginning until now, what is it? āļø: Itās that we never do anything half-heartedly. Before a concert starts, I can hear the membersā voices through my in-ear. Right before going on stage, we always say, basically shouting, to not care about how many people showed up today and to just give it our all. When we go on after shouting that, I get goosebumps in that moment. Never doing a single stage half-heartedly, that is the side of ATEEZ that hasn't changed to this day.
š¬: Here is the last question. What kind of person is "cool"? āļø: You know the saying "a good adult." I would like to express that as a "good person." The word "good" carries various meanings, but everyone can understand it. You can feel it even while shaking hands and looking into someone's eyes. When I was young, I thought someone who looked great on the outside was cool but now I think, "wouldn't a good person be someone who's truly cool?"

just gonna put this here but for me critique is an essential part of the fan experience. I like critiquing and analysing and gossiping with fellow fans, and i do not see it as hate towards whichever blorbo!!! so like. if you have a different need for your fandom experience, im not the follow for u. I praise, I critique, I bitch and the intended recipient is the fandom who likes it too.
Hi! We donāt know each other and you can toss this in the trash if Iām out of line (and donāt feel like you should answerāactually maybe please donāt answer), but I saw your tags and just in case this is helpful for you to hear: I donāt think what Yunho said about Trouble Maker is as terrible as itās sounding to some peopleās ears in summary form.
I wrote about it rant-style here but that was just my own screaming into a pillow and not meant to be screaming at anyone. The long and short of it is he seems to want credit for the idea of doing Trouble Maker (in any form) but he never said he could or wanted to do what Hwagi ended up doing. A bit silly because who cares about the source of the idea, but not the delusionally jealous desire to upstage that it could be twisted into.
You are so kind. I know we don't know each other and I can totally ignore the ask and keep being pissy about Yunho but the ask has good intention and Ateez deserves great fan like you so do you mind if I give you a rant? Please note that I was also, screaming into my pillow at 3am when I was putting in the tags.
Disclamer: this is a total vibe-based, personal rant. I have no solid proof and simply run things of my memory, bias and reasons.
First, Yunho keeps entertaining the what-if. He goes on lives to talk about Woosan's chanel and talks about what if they have a Yungi one too. I don't understand his intention. Thinking about the thing is not doing the thing. Talking about the thing is not doing the thing. Only doing the thing is doing the thing. I would love to see all the Yungi content he is entertaining about, but will he actually do it? I dont think so.
That leads me to the Troublemaker idea. Yes, who cares the source of the idea. Idea is just idea until somebody realizes it. And that person, this time, is not him. It is just not him. The fact that he mentions who comes up with the idea at all throws me off so bad. I am a fan, one of the audiences. I want entertainment. I want good entertainment. Frankly, I only care about who can deliver the great performance. I do not have the need to know the logistics behind all this. Being enivous or jelous is not a bad thing. They are like, normal human being feelings. What icks me about this is what he is doing about his feelings. Why do I need to know he just handed over his brilliant idea for his teammates? What can I do about it? What does he want his fans to do about it? He is the one who does his job, not me.
What pisses me off even more is that I sincerely believe he could pull this off. He has the skills, the talents, the looks, and they are not going where I wish it could be and goddamn I was freaking pissed. I have been shown multiple times he could be so so so good but not this time in particular. I want him to win too but for some reasons he keeps fading into the background? There is not a single moment of him from the recent fanmeeting that makes me feel anything anymore. I want to see him but he keeps freaking hiding. Wdym my shiny beautiful and pink oh so pink boy is almost invisible? Of course I would be mad.
God, stanning should not be this serious you know. I just want hihihaha at the end of a working day, turn my phone off and go to bed. But no, I must have so much thoughts and opinions about some guys on my phone screen. Absurd, dont you think?
Anyway, the last thing (?) pisses me off is that he does not seem to know what to do for himself, as an individual? as a solo performer? I know Ateez is a group, but the group can only last for so long and then, he will need to do something for just himself. Like, what does Yunho the performer/ artist want to do?! The new video of BBT crew compares him to like, high-tech vending machine is not the most flattering compliment you can give to someone like Yunho, I think. Really, who on earth would have a favorite vending machine? People come to vending machine for effiency, convenience, got the job done in 10 seconds flat, not to experience, not to remember, in other words, reliable but forgettable.
Yeah so I need Yunho to hurry the fuck up.
Okay tossing this out as my own personal coda to the brouhahaāuntil Yunho comes back on live or Fromm overnight (my time) yet again, anywayāhe did not say that he wanted to do Trouble Maker the way Hwagi did it. He said he originally thought about doing itāprobably in the campy silly way that he does things, and that other groups have covered it. Then the pairings came out and he did something else, and at the same time Hwagi took the Trouble Maker idea and went their own way with it.
Iāve seen exactly one translation of the relevant part of his live (my rb of it is here) and then just allusions or high-level summaries that are easily misinterpreted. I presume to know and trust certain OPs, and believe theyāre writing in good faith and with nuance, but I donāt think the hate/disappointment trains in notes are necessarily reading with the same care.
And this is why I personally have a complex about not trusting summaries/clips and needing to watch the entire original, with as much context as I can gather, even though I just fall hopelessly more and more behind on content.
Whether Yunho could pull off Hwagi-style Trouble Maker, and what is holding him back if not, is a fun thought experiment, but people should remember where that notion may have come from:
Just an interesting āwhat ifā scenario
A fantasy (about sexy Yunho, or jealous Yunho, or possessive-about-Mingi Yunho, or whatever flavor)
Other - Iām not trying to put words in anyoneās mouth here
and where it did not come from:
An actual desire expressed by Yunho
EDIT: I wanna be really clear that this post is me screaming into a pillow and venting targetless frustration, not criticizing anyone for their take. The internet is such a game of telephone and itās so easy to lose the original message and intent through no oneās active fault. I just wish for people to form their views, particularly views that make themselves feel bad, with the best information they can get.
What a diva
look i love them both

i am gonna be a bit of a bitch and like. look i love yunho even though I also really like to kick him when hes down, but i dont like this thing he does when he goes live to be like 'i should do the youtube thing with mingi' or 'i was the one that came up with trouble maker' like.. its not a good look, babes.
because on one hand, I would be really interested to see yunho do trouble maker, but when when he reenacted it with wooyoung, it just kinda showed me why he couldn't. he would've made a parody of it, the way boygroups have done for years. i dont mean this negatively, but its always been a skit or a bit when boygroups do trouble maker with other guys?
and i think one of the amazing things about hwagi trouble maker is that it takes these two performers, whose skill is performance above anything else, and they took it seriously and did it with sincerity. it takes a generous partner to both give the hyuna part to someone else, and it takes a lot of trust to DO the hyuna part and put faith in that your partner isnt going to make fun of you for doing it.
the POINT is that mingi was the least expected to do hyuna, and that he took it seriously with his tallness and broadness and deep, low voice. and seonghwa took him seriously as it, and understood that the point was that mingi was taller than him, broader than him, and therefore didn't met mingi with any posturing to emasculate mingi in order to go 'no homo!!!'.
i really dont know if anyone else could've done it like them, and i am pretty pissy about yunho kinda nakedly being like 'i shouldve been the one' because sorry babe. it wouldnt have been the same.
