hey tumblr peeps. taking a break from my social media hiatus to share a dear co-worker’s fundraiser. denise is a single mama of twin boys who works with me at a local daycare center. besides my abuela she is the most hard-working, compassionate woman i know, and such a diligent, thoughtful, caring daycare worker. this month she is getting ready to make a big move from a 2-bedroom to a 3-bedroom house. luckily she has family to help through this process, but she could really use some new things like: new mattresses, bedding, u-haul rentals, etc. her community has helped her raise some, but she is still a ways from her goal.

My roomate and I are homeless in a conservative area, and winter has been rough. We are waiting on a check to get an apartment, and we are very behind on our hotel bill. We have no idea when they'll try to run our card, but when they do, we will need to get the money within the hours after or be on the streets. We are trying to avoid this emergency situation, especially because my roomate is so sick rn that he's not been able to eat solid food, and he's been very dehydrated. Last night my mom got a stabbing and persistent pain in her chest with vomitting and had to be taken to the ER. She was diagnosed with gallstones and a hernia, she came back home the next morning at 7 am.
While at my work shift today (some 5 hours ago) my dad announced to our family group chat that at midday she got the same pains and vomitting again, she was taken to the ER once more, and this time it was immediate emergency surgery instead of pain management.
We are already extremely indebted and broke, and now this. Any help if you can afford it is appreciated, please. We've been asking for loans to buy bread for over a year at this point.

Two years later, still no justice.
In the middle of the night on March 13, 2020, Breonna Taylor, a 26-year-old EMT, was senselessly killed by police as she slept in her own home. Breonna was a daughter, friend, sister, and hero in her community.
Since her death, no one has been charged for her murder. The only semblance of justice that we have seen is the passing of the Breonna Law in Kentucky. But there is still much work to be done to ensure that other innocent people do not continue to lose their lives in the same manner.
