Areej's Family Needs Help to Survive in Gaza
"Thank you from the bottom of my heart for every bit of help you have given my family. Your kindness has carried us through some of the hardest days of our lives, and I am endlessly grateful for each of you.
Today, I am reaching out once again because our situation has become even more difficult.
Over the past days, heavy rainfall flooded our tents within minutes. There is no proper roof to protect us, and our small children woke up surrounded by water. Most of our bedding and belongings were soaked, leaving us with nothing dry to sleep on. Storms are common at this time of year, but with so many families without permanent shelter, even normal rainfall turns into a disaster.
We urgently need a new tent to keep the children safe and warm. A proper tent costs $1,000, and without it we have no way to stay dry through the winter nights. Please, help me protect my children from the cold and rain.
Food is still extremely expensive, and many basic items are no longer available. Meat and chicken cannot be found, and fruits and vegetables cost more than we can afford. I am now pregnant, and I desperately need healthy food to keep myself and my baby safe. We need $600 to buy food, warm winter clothing for the kids, and to replace the damaged tarps that were protecting our shelter.
This is the Christmas season—a time of compassion, giving, and hope. My children, Aisha and Yahya, are wishing for simple Christmas gifts this year—just something small to bring them a bit of happiness in the middle of all this hardship.
Please help us get through this winter safely. Every contribution, no matter how small, helps us survive another day.
