alright now make them have gay wireplay time because i said so <3
Something something hals adjustment to lacking the physical manifestations of most emotions while being shades turning into adjusting to the physical sensations that come with a body that still isnt human and finding what constitutes a pleasurable endeavor vs whats painful to a computer and idk maybe pull some wires out and plug em back in dirk see what happens. They both have complex and charged feelings about the whole āshoving hands in his chest/having hands in my chestā thing and the idea of true vulnerability. Be weird. Be weird and gay. This will fix my slow work shift i promise.
I love working on things abd then dropping them. Whats that holland march quote. āShe used to say I got no follow-through. I hit nails in halfway and stop. She's not wrong.āi love you hlland march. New post. Have you guys seen holland march.
Here is who he is looking at!!! Drunk and depressed and thin and sad <333 i love you dave before he gets better i love you dave shocked by the cruelty of money i love you dave at his lowest and with no place to go but up
Sorry poll youāre all wrong its bro/dave but like alpha dave Flavor! And also not romantic and also sad. Tbh the only ship parts are the TAGS but i like building a foundation for how their relationship has gone. Thereās mention of exploitation and addiction bc i think dave struggles with that early in his movie career. It touches on emotional neglect in childhood and how that forms his struggles. Anyway.
In most modern settings I donāt pin down Bro as a direct copy of his canon counterpart because theres not evil puppet doing terrible things to his mind and because i am the god of the world in my rps and brain so he is whatever i want <3 that said I do not think he was a stellar guardian!!! I think it errs more on the side of neglectful both physically and emotionally, that he landed himself a kid he wasnāt ready for or wanting and had to navigate being a young, mentally ill, unsupported adult with a new baby and no network. Part of itās the grind, he has to afford the apartment and their lives so he canāt be home every day all the time. I think emotionally he struggles because heās never had a conventional family structure and he doesnāt really know how to Tend To a Child. I would even say early on he doesnāt want Dave, and that itās a process to go from a burden heās saddled with to someone he loves. He doesnāt want to be a guardian to a child.
Dave grows on him, over time, but even then Bro was not taught proper emotional regulation and does not know how to cultivate healthy relationships. He patches Dave up when heās hurt, he helps him when heās sick, but thereās no abundance of I love yous, heās not helping Dave with the emotional pains of being a kid or a teen, heās very āi never had help and i turned out fine.ā
It causes an impact!! Being denied emotional support and affections makes a person really susceptible to people weaponizing that. Dave turns out with a curated image and a manufactured sense of disconnect to emotions, but also with a desperate need to be validated and wanted. Itās not really an issue until heās 20 something, in LA, trying to make it in a cut throat and exploitative industry. How do you contend with people offering you drugs, money, and alcohol with the implication being that if you fail to do them, you will be ostracized from the in-group? He is told he will be famous, he is told he will be a genius, he is told he will make money, he is told he is a starā he is showered in promises of validation and he just needs to play his cards right to earn it!!
But those cards are parties, itās proving youāre cool, itās proving to people you want to network with that you can hang and you arenāt a fucking narc, that youāll make them money AND youāll be a good dog and bark when they say bark. If they offer a bump, you do it. If they buy you a drink, you drink it. It is easy, comparatively, to meet the expectations of these people. Bro didnāt tell him what to do to earn praise, he stumbled into it sometimes but it was rare. These people tell him to wear an outfit and drink this drink and smile and when he does it they tell him he will be a God in the Hollywood scene. He knows how to be good, he knows how to earn praise, he knows what he needs.
He talks to Bro much less when he leaves to pursue the dream because heās busy, sure, but also because he can sort of place a resentment thatās built upā why is it that all these strangers with money can tell Dave he is funny and beautiful and smart and full of potential when Bro can barely say one of those. Why hasnāt Bro congratulated him? Come out to see him? Anything?? When they do talk, thereās a focus on Daveās behavior or media presence, something he reads as condescending or disapproving. Bro is worried, but he wonāt say that. Instead of telling Dave he watched his interview and liked his movie, he asks Dave why he seemed so erratic, he asks him if heās always so sweaty.
Bro doesnāt give him enough validation and thereās an industry clamoring to shower Dave in roses if they can squeeze every dime that comes out of him. He sees the lights and the praise and the tit for tat and the drugs and the money and he doesnāt see the downhill slope or the way people benefit from his indulgence. You canāt retroactively undo years of impact, he falls for the bait of industry and gets spit out 5 years later after a number of stints in rehab, a baby of his own, and an estranged family member and looks back at it for what it was.
