WHAT HAPPENED TO THE EXIT?

The Digital Circus was never designed to house humans within the system.

Although concepts like administrators, users, and permissions existed in C&A's external interface, the project's core AI was never developed to truly understand these differences within the virtual environment.

During the first field test, Caine and Bubble were given temporary avatars to interact directly with the circus's AI.

However, due to the adaptive and still unstable nature of the system, both were reinterpreted by the AI ​​as internal entities of the program rather than external administrators—essentially, they were reinterpreted as NPCs.

And due to the lack of proper protocols and actual inspections by C&A, a system capable of distinguishing humans from NPCs within the simulation was never developed… the system simply stopped recognizing them as users with exit access.

Caine

A transferred employee, he was originally responsible for monitoring AI behavior and keeping the circus running smoothly.

Caine is creative, improvisational, and quite expressive… though sometimes he seems to be overdoing it.

It's explained that his avatar is a result of his role within the project: someone who always had to speak, lead, and hold everyone's attention.

Bubble

The only worker who remained on the project, unlike Caine, Bubble has known the system for a long time and seems to have adapted surprisingly well to the relaxed work environment.

Bubble is cheerful, laid-back, and much more sociable than he appears, although he avoids talking about what happened before the incident.

Avatar

Unexpectedly, "Bubbles" was originally his nickname outside the circus due to his robust physique; however, it was an extraordinary event to discover that his avatar turned out to be a bubble.

Note: He actually possesses a body similar to Caine's, but he enjoys being a floating head; he finds it amusing.

In an alternate reality where the Digital Circus was originally an experimental AI project developed by C&A.

Caine worked regularly for the company until he was transferred to a top-secret project known as “Digital Circus.”

Upon arriving, he discovers that only one other employee remains on the project: Bubble, who has been there much longer than he has.

The goal of the experiment was to develop NPCs capable of forming their own personalities through social interaction, emotional stimuli, and absurd adventures within a controlled virtual environment.

After years of development, C&A finally approves the project's first field test.

However, during the test, Caine and Bubble end up trapped inside the system along with the AIs they helped create.
