Being the new girl was never easy.
Packing years of your life into a couple of cardboard boxes labeled with categories scribbled in fading black marker —the same marker your father kept buried somewhere in the back of his desk drawer— was... depressing. You knew you should be grateful. For your father's job, for the comfortable salary it provided, and for the chance to see so many places at such a young age. And you were. Every single day. ♡ It was Jungkook's idea first. "Why don't we make sourdough bread?" he'd suggested one afternoon. "I heard it's really good. Plus, you can make all kinds of flavors." Jin had only agreed because, honestly, why not? It was just bread. So there they were, wandering through the grocery store together, making sure they had every ingredient they could possibly need so they wouldn't have to run out halfway through the process because they'd forgotten something.
♡ Jin ended up handling most of the mixing while Jungkook sat beside him reading the recipe out loud and watching a video tutorial to compare how the dough was supposed to look at every stage. Which mostly resulted in him criticizing Jin every time something looked wrong.
♡ Jungkook, of course, ignored him.
♡ And Jin, of course, told him to do something useful instead— like paying attention to the instructions instead of skipping over important parts.
♡ Unfortunately, neither of them actually listened.
♡ Which was how they somehow missed the part where the dough was supposed to rest in the refrigerator for nearly half a day.
♡ By the time they realized something might be wrong, they were already standing in front of Jungkook's oven, staring through the glass as the loaf baked.
♡ Without the proper resting time, the dough never rose the way it had in all those youtube thumbnails. Instead of becoming some beautiful bakery-worthy loaf, it was small. Slightly misshapen. Far softer than it should've been.
