That gifset of Nandor and Nadja you reblogged is super interesting to me. For the simple fact that Nandor was this fierce warrior that conquered so many cities and stuff. But, with that group of young vampires, he's trying to be calm and reason with them and kind of find a compromise. (While Nadja is being the aggressive one). Like the way he talks about his past, it makes it seem like he didn't bother with diplomacy but he seems to be pretty good at it.
ooc;; jasidfosdi this, this is something that has been in my head for a while now tbh. i can just imagine nandor centuries ago would have acted the same way nadja did in this scenario, and yet, all that changed at some point for him, but i'm with you in this.
i honestly think that nandor could have been a greater leader during his time (like even greater than he used to be), because he definitively has the skills that could have led him to do so, yes, even when it comes to being diplomatic, but he ended up choosing violence 95% of the time, cuz why not, right? Like he once said, he could have done greater things if he had done more of his leadership skills. yes, we see this silly dude now that at times seems quite ignorant of things, but I also believe there is a sharpness to the guy. obviously, he has managed to stay alive for this long, but he also was this leader/ruler and he didn't accomplish the things he did in his life by just being stupid and silly and all that. i know that laszlo likes to describe him as not having much of an education or something like that, but i don't believe that's the case. i believe nandor had the best education that someone of his time could have had.
he was trained to be this great warrior, but he was also raised for greatness. things just really got out of control for him at some point (and him becoming a vampire didn’t make them any better). i think this happened because he was so focused on becoming this powerful warrior/vampire or whatever, that he lost focus of what was really important. now we get to see this other side of nandor, one that prefers to use logic, words, diplomacy, and rarely violence to solve the issues at hand, making him the entire opposite person of the one he used to be, but not quite, because this side of nandor has always been there, I just think that with the passing of the years he has managed to find a balance, the right balance between one the other, and this gifset seeing it from another perspective, it gives you a contrast of who nandor was and who he is now.
i also feel like now i'm rambling and that i got so off-topic, but i myself have a lot of thoughts about nandor and the changes he has gone through, and these two sides of him, and how they come together for nandor to be nandor and just... yeah.
side note;; i really believe that nandor is this complex character with so many layers and this is the hill i will die on. good bye :’)
