Some quick notes about Sio’s species/culture before work :V

- Dioskyuri is the race as a whole, divided into two economical classes: The Kastor and the Pollyx.

- The Kastor are the working-class/poor. They were once considered slave labor, but gained their independence in a recent civil war.

- The Pollyx consist of former aristocrats, but have generally retained enough money to be considered upperclass in comparison.

- There’s no fundamental difference in anatomy between the Kastor and the Pollyx. The class divide is based off of who each group is mythologically descended from between a pair of brothers (a mere mortal and a divine being incarnate).

Adult Kastor can usually be recognized by the ornate, red tattoos that mark their hands. These tattoos are the end result of a coming of age ritual. Adult Pollyx do not carry these markings, having abandoned the ritual long ago bc they feel it is ‘barbaric.’

- Dioskyuri are an intersex species. It is common for members to identify as female, male, agender, or all-gendered. It is considered a basic right for each gender to have their own bathroom (female, male, androgynous) , regardless of class.

The only restrictions on gender identity are beuracracy-based. In that, there is a lot of paperwork to go through if someone wishes to identify as something else. The redtape is mainly to discourage Kastor individuals from disrupting the reproduction program.

Just some random questions I answered from a meme for Sio.

What body type are they? Sio is lanky… he has a long torso to accommodate his two sets of arms. Kinda skipped his last few sessions of leg day but he has a nice butt.

What is their complexion like? Fairly clear but tends to get goosebumps easily. Have they ever cheated on a partner? Sio has not been in a relationship. He’s a little too reserved and awkward to form romantic relationships easily. That said, he wouldn’t ever think of doing so. He would be upset at ever doing something to give his partner the impression he doesn’t care for them.

What sort of music do they enjoy? Sio likes instrumental tunes because they have the potential to enhance whatever he’s reading, rather than distract from it.

Have they ever been drunk? He’s weird about alcohol. He hasn’t had any bad experiences with it… just doesn’t know how to approach it. In his head, alcohol is for people that’re cooler than him. Sio would probably be a very forward drunk, though.

What are they like when they stay up all night? Sio is very mellow when he’s tired. He mumbles responses when in a conversation, slurring his words together. He also nods off if left idle for too long. Generally he tries to get a decent night’s rest whenever he can.

Have they ever been arrested? No, he tries too hard to stay on the right side of the law. The only scenario I could see that leads to an arrest is if he goes along with someone else’s bad idea and got caught that way. While not a doormat, Sio can be submissive around people he is hoping to befriend or impress. He’ll put up with quite a bit if he thinks his platonic-wooing is paying off. What word do they overuse the most? Human languages, specifically English, are not Sio’s native tongue. He often struggles to string together coherent sentences, which means his speech is filled with a lot of ‘um’s.

What do they wear to bed? He sleeps shirtless to accommodate his multiple arms. Sio usually wears sleep pants/sweatpants to bed, but has been known on occasion to go to bed completely nude.

Do they have any tattoos or piercings? Yes. He got them for successfully completing a rite of passage that is common among his culture.

What is their most disliked saying? Sio doesn’t like cursing. He thinks it’s inappropriate and that there are better ways to express oneself. Sometimes you can catch him flinching at a load of f bombs.

Do they have any enemies? Sio himself does not have any enemies. Just haven’t spent enough time w him to develop relationships. But his species (the Dioskyuri) are divided in a class war. Sio’s family is of the working class (though quite honestly, their treatment walks the line of slave labor) and he is despised by the upperclass and other members of his station for pursuing scholarly interests.

What does their writing look like? The handwriting for his dominant hand is incredibly neat… almost font-like. The other hands write neatly enough to be legible, but it’s easy to see that he doesn’t have as much finesse when writing with them.

What disgusts them? Oral fixations (biting writing utensils, etc) squick him a bit. He doesn’t like the idea of touching something that had someone’s spit on it.

although he struggles w English and tends to stick to short, to-the-point dialog, he’s actually rather eloquent in his native language. it’s just the unfamiliarity and vast differences between his language and English that does him in.

Gorillas are strong, unpolished individuals with a gruff exterior that conceals their soft and chewy center. They are capable, happy-go-lucky individuals with a disarming naivete. Maybe a little hairy with a tattoo or two too, they are unpretentious and engaging creatures who brighten everyone's day with their enthusiastically warm greetings. They pay little attention to their physical condition and can even be a bit of a slob. With this tendency to be untidy, a gorilla isn't one to recycle or pick up after itself.

Even with the gorilla's warmly gruff exterior there remains an underlying sense of menace that percolates throughout its personality. Though it is built for physical confrontation, it's difficult to imagine a gorilla actually inflicting bodily harm. However, when the gorilla or its family is threatened, the transgressor quickly realizes their mistake. Its body hair standing on end and large frame at full height, the gorilla will never back down from a fight. In a child-custody battle it's better to negotiate an up-front peace with a gorilla rather than endure a prolonged and bloody battle.

Gorillas are intelligent but not overly motivated. When young they avoid formal learning, and as an adult their intelligence manifests itself as street-smarts. They have the talent and problem-solving skills to be excellent mechanics, plumbers or repair people.

Their career, however, takes a backseat to the pursuit of recreational activity and they will rarely reach great heights in business. However, if they're lucky enough to find a job that incorporates fun and physical prowess - such as a personal trainer or professional wrestler - they can certainly rise to the top of their field.

Gorillas' appreciation for the good life puts them in good stead for careers in the service industry, including the hotel and restaurant businesses, and customers appreciate a gorilla's gruff but can-do attitude.

Gorillas are unmotivated by money, and they avoid strenuous physical exertion in favor of spending their leisure time at play. Drawn to social groups, the classic gorilla scene is a group of Hells Angels revving their bikes, mimicking a gorilla-like chest pounding and roaring.
