God of Sleep Georgi’s Sleep Tips
Bed Care
Try to clean your sheets at least once every 2 weeks. Having clean sheets are amazing
You can purchase sprays to put on your pillow before you go to bed, I had a lavender one and it helped a lot
Try to only sleep on your bed, this will trick your brain into associating the bed only with sleep. If you can, watch videos, do homework, etc, anywhere else. Your bed is for sleep only.
Getting the right pillow means all the world! Adjusting your arm under the pillow or if your pillow is too high can make your neck all wonky. It’s recommended to get a new pillow roughly every 5 years.
Also, body pillows? I have a Gilgamesh body pillow and it has been a great thing. You can get cheap ones at Walmart and Bed Bath and Beyond for about ~20$
Before you go to bed
Wash your face. If you still have make-up, creams, or anything on your face, it could be harder to fall asleep.
Try to not use electronics. Eyestrain is a real issue and it hurts your eyes, making it difficult to fall asleep. Try to read before you go to bed, or if you’re like me and like to watch YouTube videos before you go to bed, have more than just the screen light on.
Try to go to bed when you first feel tired! I know that it’s difficult, and sometimes you have to stay up, but if you feel like you’re getting sleepy, try to go to bed as soon as possible.
Tips for getting to sleep
If you’re an auditory person, try ASMR! There are specific ASMR videos for getting to sleep, and I love them as I live in a busy residence.
If you have money, you can buy a diffuser. Basically it releases steam and I have been using mine for a couple weeks and it helps a lot.
When you’re in bed, try to clear your mind as much as possible. I know, that’s hard. Especially when at night it feels like everything comes back to haunt you. If you can clear your mind and think about your favourite things, you can get to sleep.
Finally, sleep is a necessity. If you find you’re suffering from insomnia, please contact your doctor. Insomnia is a real problem, and I’ve met people who don’t treat it correctly. If you are on melatonin and you are using it as a way to combat insomnia - I would advise you to stop using it. I’ll admit, I do sometimes, but it is not designed for beating insomnia, but for jet lag and for a small period of time.
I’ve suffered from PTSD for most of my life, and thus, I have had to learn how to get to sleep and stay asleep. I hope these tips were useful. If anyone has more, feel free to reply and I’ll add it.
And from Georgi: I’m sorry I didn’t reach you, one. I hope you get better sleep tonight.
