New Year, New Biotech Stock Offerings -- Lots of 'Em

It’s raining money in biotech tonight! 

Cempra: $100 million offering.

Five Prime Therapeutics: $75 million offering.

Cerus: Selling undisclosed amount of stock. 

Avalanche Biotechnologies: A stock offering likely to raise about $100 million.

Synageva Biopharma: A stock offering likely to raise about $250 million.

Karyopharm Therapeutics: A stock offering likely to raise about $106 million.

And lastly, Moderna, a privately held biotech startup, announced a $450 million round of venture capital financing.

What We're Trading

RHT - RedHat explodes $4 above its 52-week high, to the highest levels since 2000 as the open source software solution provider beat key metrics across the board. ALLY - Ally trades higher by 4% on the TradeMONSTER extended hours platform after the US Treasuy announced its exit from the company.

BBRY Blackberry beat EPS forecast by 7 cents but did so on much weaker than expected revenues, shares dump 10% in the pre.

CERS - Shares up 12% on news the FDA approved Cerus' INTERCEPT Blood System for platelets

CTAS - Uniform kingpin Cintas beat EPS forecast by 8 cents & raised guidance, shares up nearly 6% here. FINL - Finish Line missed EPS and lowers forward guidance, shares fall 12% in the pre.

KMX - CarMax beat EPS, shares up 10% and surging nearly $5 through the 52-week high! PIR - Pier One reports in line EPS, which was enough to boost shares 10% in the pre.
