how the hell do i come up with three more headcanons for these two FUCK

when they have children, monty and harper put on the BEST stories for them. there’s acting and funny voices and wonderful plots -- their children love the theatrics, and it’s something that monty and harper are good at. they’re amazing parents, it’s just FACT. and when they all laugh together just before falling asleep, it’s the best feeling in the world.

they say i love you. a lot. sometimes it gets on people’s nerves -- but they’re not JUST doing it because it’s cute and they mean it, but they remember a time when it wasn’t so certain, when words had been used to push away rather than comfort. those three words were the deciding factor between life and death at one point. they say them loudly. they say them often. even when they’re fighting, they’ll stop to remind each other because god only knows how many times they’ll truly be able to say those three words.

the go to to calming harper down in any situation is touching her face. the moment his fingers are on her chin, her breathing slows and any panic or anxiety attack is instantly calming down. his touch genuinely slows her in the best ways possible. it’s a way they ground each other, touching each other’s faces. while monty is more inclined to cradle her chin, she often uses both hands to cup his face, always training their eyes on the other. nothing calms harper more than losing herself in his gaze.

“am i a terrible mother?”

it was the first sentence she’s uttered since it happened, since they truly realized that their little girl was gone. harper hasn’t spoken in days, hasn’t eaten -- and she’s tried. she’s tried SO HARD. but every time she went to move or breathe, all she felt was a pain in her chest that hit so deep, she felt like her bones were crumbling. she knew pain. harper was a woman who rose from the ashes of it. but this was new. she wouldn’t get past this pain.

“---- this is all my fault.”

every day, harper cursed herself for being right. they would never be safe. every time they thought that things were OKAY, it ended up worse.

and god, was she tired.

she was sitting in what she called the LESS SHITTY area -- harper refused to give names to her prison. took the emotion out of it. but she was one of the luckier ones in the group, mostly because of her CONDITION. she was allowed to walk, eat just a bit more -- but not without a reason. her hand smoothed over the swell of her stomach, anxiety rising again in her throat. it’s been so long that she hasn’t had it that harper’s almost forgotten what it felt like to be calm, to be at PEACE. she hoped that this child would know peace. truthfully, she wished that this child wasn’t even existing -- life was hard for all of them. a baby born in a prison? so much worse.

tired eyes lifted as she noticed feet down the hall. they must be moving more people, she thought quietly, lips pursed in a thin line. maybe they found more. she watched the strangers curiously before her heart dropped in her chest so quickly that the wind was knocked out of her. although it was a bit difficult, she moved to stand up, eyes fixed on one person. just one. one she had been looking for this entire time. regret and relief flooded her like a sour cocktail, bile in the back of her throat before she spoke.

“ -- MONTY.”

i love getting so close to someone that you no longer feel nervous about just making them starters or replying to memes, that you don’t apologize for the amount of asks you send them or how you tell them ALL YOUR HEADCANONS. i love not thinking that im a burden and feeling like im really loved and im so happy!! that i have people!!! in this community that make me feel that way

“i don’t wanna talk about it.” she’s not used to this FEELING -- the one where she can do nothing but shut him out. she’s never shut him out before, not like this. but this particular topic had her stomach churning. she hasn’t slept, hasn’t eaten since it happened. this was the first time she left the boy’s side, and only because she was forced to. eyes refused to meet his, the lump in her throat unbearable. “ --- just DROP IT, okay?”

harper had given up on happy endings.

it had been five, long years since the group had been split up -- between the radiation, fights with the grounders... they had been separated one day, half of the former sky people being pushed away from arkadia. it wasn’t safe, they couldn’t go back. so bellamy, abby, harper, and many others found a new shelter. found a new home.

she had never quite been the same. on this day in particular, the blonde was making her usual rounds on the perimeter, gun firmly in her hands as she scouted the area. her personality had changed -- she was a MOTHER now. it was two months after the separation, after her heartbreak, that the girl learned she was pregnant with the child of a boy she was sure that she would never see again. harper hadn’t heard from monty in five years. to be quite frank, she had already accepted the idea that he was dead.

jasper was just shy of five years old, sharp as a tack and the most outgoing kid she’s ever seen. he received his father’s brain and his smile, but he inherited harper’s bravery and impulsive nature. he was a handful.

she smiled lightly, thinking of the little boy who at this point... was really the only reason why she was still here. life wasn’t the same without monty, but she couldn’t give up now that she had someone who fully relied on her. harper snapped out of her thoughts when she heard a fellow guard warn her on the walkie that there were people approaching, and she rushed towards the gate. nobody came through here. for a REASON. the girl aimed her gun towards the interlopers, standing just outside of the gate. she still had a stupid amount of bravery, no matter her responsibility.

“stop moving! who are you?”

“bellamy needs me to go on watch overnight.” her tone was apologetic, a glimmer of a smile playing on her lips. “so you don’t have to wait up or anything. I’M SORRY.”
