Reggie Pete.rs should date Jane Benn.et I'm just saying what we are all thinking
{You’re supposed to be mine,why do you talk to him?ft @dobbieisfree }
“Because I saw you with that blonde chick...” soltó una suave carcajada. “No recuerdo haber aceptado ser tu esposa o algo así...”

Everything was going perfectly, but even if it wasn’t, Jane would still be thrilled with the night. Dinner was a triumph, dishes were easily done, and Reggie was still here. Not that he ever missed a Christmas Eve with the Bennets and her mother’s family. She smiled from ear to ear, finding her spot in the crowded living room around the tree right next to Reggie, near her younger cousins, who couldn’t seem to leave him alone. It would be time to exchange gifts soon, and Jane had the perfect thing for Reggie. She had only been working on it for the last few months.
She just settled in when her father called to her, serious and stern. Never a good sign. The eldest Bennet daughter stood, smoothing out her red gingham skirt. Her father held the phone, and Jane held out her hand to take it from him, but he shook his head.
“It’s for Reggie, Janey.”
“Who is it?” Jane tilted her head to the side. Her father rubbed the bald spot on the top of his head, meaning it didn’t truly matter who it was. It was bad news.
“Mrs. Patterson.” Luke’s mom? Jane opened her mouth, but her father shook his head. “Take him to the kitchen. Stay with him, dear.” Her father motioned her off with a nod of his head. Jane crept through the crowd, tapping on Reggie’s shoulder.
“Dad says there’s a phone call for you. Come on, you can take it in the kitchen.” She offered him his hand, both to help him up and offer him some preventative comfort. Not that she could hazard a guess what bad news Mrs. Patterson brought. She silently prayed Luke was alright.

With her mother's permission and a promise from Lizzie that she would pick up the rest of their sisters, Jane Bennet managed to get the night off from her family to help a friend. Of course, Lizzie had a thing or two to say to her. Like how Reggie Peters was a flirt, and Luke Patterson was a horrible person, and Reggie probably thought this was a date. But it wasn't, and Jane knew that. Reggie didn't ask her on a date. He asked her for dinner so they could talk.
Lizzie didn't believe her, but it didn't matter what Lizzie believed, because it could not ruin the good feeling radiating from Jane. She made her way from French class to where she and Reggie had talked, with only a minor detour to her locker to grab her book bag and the few books she would need for homework after dinner. As Reggie wasn't there yet, she waited, watching the throng of students pass as they headed home in the various modes of transportation, looking for Reggie among the crowd.

Jane Bennet had a bad habit of worrying about everyone. Perhaps that is what came about being the eldest of five girls. Her knack of caring for others worked well with her shy demeanor, as she often could observe and notice a change in someone’s temperament. Today, it was Reggie Peters and the dejected look on his face. She hugged her schoolbooks and her binder to her chest, observing the shift almost immediately as she walked up. The lopsided grin that he used on plenty of other girls now aimed at her, causing her cheeks to warm and her gaze to shift. Perhaps she should have brought Lizzie with her. “That is very kind of you to say.” She looked at him through her lashes. With a steadying breath to calm her nerves, and hopefully remove the blush from her cheeks, she raised her head to fully meet his eyes. She braced her books against her with one arm and touched his arm. “I’m glad you are doing well. I guess, if you ever need to talk or are not doing okay, I am happy to lend an ear.”

Jane found herself thankful for Saturday evening dinner clean up. It gave her something to do outside of her room—which she really hadn’t left since Lizzie picked her up the other day. Her heart still hurt, but completing simple tasks soothed her soul. It made her feel useful, especially when her sisters thanked her and went on about their evenings, Lizzie the only one wise to Jane’s heart.
Still, her mind wandered scrubbing out the casserole pan caught between sad country love songs and the spiraling thought of her being a bad kisser ruining her relationship with her best friend. She barely heard the doorbell over her thoughts, but Lydia’s shrill shout of her name forced Jane to break her concentration, shut off the water, and wipe her hands on her apron as she went for the door. She froze when she saw him, suddenly worried over her raggedy sad appearance until the half-second passed and her worry was over what he was doing, looking so sad at the threshold of her house.
“Reggie? Is everything okay?”
I forgot I gave Jane the middle name Anne and im legit thinking of changing it for her modern verses because of danelle.
