After a much needed sabbatical which hadn’t amounted to more than some tomfoolery and drunken nights, Hayden had returned to LA and found that nothing had changed. She wasn’t sure what she had expected, but maybe had thought that some time and some space wouldn’t make everything feel so goddamn suffocating all the time. Much to her chagrin, it still very much was. And so she found comfort the only way that she knew how, by blowing her pay check and savings on making things a little warmer and a little number.
She hadn’t spoken to Mattie since she had stupidly drunk texted her that one night and certainly hadn’t texted her since she’d been back. As it stood, her schedule was work, drink, sleep (barely, repeat. Occasionally, when she woke up not hungover or still drunk, and if she woke up early enough, Hayden would catch the surf. Her performance on those days was less than pleasurable, and it did very little to make her feel much of anything. No, the only thing that seemed to help was when she was too drunk to think, that was when she felt the closest to the Hayden she used to be.
Unfortunately, explaining to the police that the reason you were intoxicated in public was to be functional didn’t really go as well as one would expect. As such she presently found herself in the drunk tank, the fact that she was in a prison was extremely sobering on a mental level, but the police still weren’t going to release her until she’d fully sobered up. That or if she found an adult that would assume responsibility over her drunk ass. It was as such that, after failing to reach anyone else at the numbers Hayden had provided, she found herself giving them Mattie’s number, unsure as to whether or not the girl was back in LA, and even less sure that she would come and pick up Hayden while they were on the terms they were on.
When she was told that Mattie was on her way, Hayden suddenly wondered if it might have been better to just stay in jail until sunrise. As such, she found herself waiting for the other girl, wishing that maybe she had a little bit more drink in her.
