sarah and ant had made a rudimentary plan to meet up the morning following liza’s surprise party, and go together to talk to wren. naturally, the two had some follow-up questions for him, now that they’d both heard justice’s side of things.

one of the only things sarah and ant had worked out the night prior (amid the worry that came with attending a party so clearly planned by tag) was the time she’d meet him at his apartment. fifteen to thirty minutes before visiting hours were set to begin, so they could meet with wren as soon as possible. as promised, that was when sarah knocked on the door to ant’s apartment, not realizing that their plans had changed for the better.

sarah stood on her boot clad toes and craned her scarved neck to look at the menu of the hot cocoa stand. a list of choices, toppings and drinks alike, on display to tempt the various festival attendees. coffees, hot cocoa, even some festive themed cocktails. when it was finally sarah's turn, she shuffled up to the stand and politely ordered two hot chocolates. "any toppings on those?" the employee at the stand had asked her, and a soft blush rose to sarah's cheeks.

she had become so accustomed to ordering for two, she had forgotten she was alone today. "could I have one with marshmallows and cinnamon, and the other... can you just give it to the next person in line?" she recovered, masking her mistake as an intentional act of holiday cheer. sure, it was possible that the person behind her wanted something more expensive, but at least then they could just pay the difference and still save a couple of bucks. and her pride in the process. sarah paid for the two drinks, plus some extra cash for a tip, then gratefully collected her drink, the warmth of it radiating through the cup and into her hands as turned to make her way to the nearest unoccupied bench.
