It was at parties where I knew everyone, and one day he brought his big brother to the party. I remember he was my favorite person at that party. He was a natural. There was something about him that made me want to be his friend but then I realized he wasn't there (laughs). He would disappear for three months and then ask, "Where was Gerard?" and he would answer, "Oh, at home, reading comics." Gerard: I was trying to become an artist, so I fluctuated between being a sociable person and someone who spent hours drawing.
