“Why I’m so awesome? I don’t know either.” Kakashi for sure had kicked his ass during the training; every single muscle in his body feels sore, even offering a pack of cigarettes seems as big challenge.

        Kakashi stretched his muscles and fixed his headband without paying much attention to the answer his sparring partner gave him. He let his eye glide over the small paperboard box as he walked closer and pushed the cigarettes away.

“You should, after knowing me nearly whole my life, that I don’t smoke.”

Flashing lights of city, blurred lines and agonizing pain coming from his injured arm. Then rush of footsteps, far too many stairs. Smiling faces of nurses giving him a shots, taking some tests.

He woke up at next morning, in a way too bad condition. It’s not hangover, he’s delirious.

“Kakashi, what happened to my motorcycle?” first question that popped in his mind, he waves his casted arm. Eyes wide, he stares at tightly wrapped limb in disbelief. “Oh fuck.”

He leaned against the door, his arms crossed in front of him while his dissaproving look glared holes in Obito’s skull. 

“The frame got a severde dent and the varnish is gone on several places, your left front light got ripped off,” he replied cooly while his eyes didn’t leave Obito’s. “--You know, that was the most stupid thing you’ve ever done,” he continued, almost hissing now in pure anger. “Drunk driving?!” What was he thinking?

    “And your dogs left paw prints all over my apartment the      last time you stayed over.” The youthful sensei wiggled his fingers in an attempt to remember how many prints he had to clean up from Kakashi’s dirty hounds. Maybe having a summoning sleep over was a bad idea, but Gai had fun regardless of all the hassle afterwords.      “You can always borrow one of my suits if you like Kakashi!”

Kakashi took a stratigically justified step backwards, already holding up his hands in his defence as Gai brought up the terrifying subject of his self proclaimed ‘formidable’ suits. 

“No, thanks Gai... I should return to my ninken.” Kakashi replied slowly, trying to keep the conversation on the subject of his dogs and not the suits. Gai could wear whatever he wanted, but those things just seemed a tad bit tight.

Kakashi cocked his head to the side and watched Obito with hooded eyes. He was starving. "What're you preparing?"

"It doesn’t work either," whimpering voice at the other side. He heard chopped noises and salivated at mere thought about food. "Fuck it. I’ll buy some saury and be there in like half on hour."

Kakashi didn’t expect anything else from Obito. He always invited himself. He threw the freshly chopped carrots in athe hot pan and picked up the phone in his hand. “--bring some snacks, too,” he said hastily and turend around to stir the vegetables.

2am; parking lot. Hatake guy is hilarious, somewhere nearby. One eyed hitman growled in exasperation. "Stop hiding behind Mum's apron you coward!"

The angry shout echoed through the entire parking lot space and in the back of his mind, Kakashi wondered if there were any other people present other than himself and Obito.

Despite his normally cool and rational mind, small sweatdrops formed themselves at the back of his neck.  Kakashi kept his hand firmly around his firearm and didn’t move from his hiding spot.

               Not yet.

He never expected the minutes to pass so soon and before he was even fully prepared, it was 2AM. With each passing second, Kakashi knew he was giving Obito more time to move around and locate him. Closing his eyes and drawing a deep breath, Kakashi calculated each move he was about to make and waited untill he picked up the sound of footsteps through the empty space.

It was only a matter of time before they’d find each other in the large underground parking lot.

It was only a matter of simple moments before one of them would end up dead,

—and it was only a matter of small steps that would bring them closer together and seal their fate.
