more of small angel and dad jack under the cut because i’m unstoppable so please consider:
angel’s first playdate with the neighbor’s kids (it went south and it went fast because jack is That Overbearing Suburban Dad and his little star is not going to be eating worms on a dare)
shopping at the supermarket and all small angel wants to do is stand on her dad’s feet and koala cling to his shirt while he shuffle-foots around and around with her like that because he hasn’t the heart to refuse her
angel’s first stomach bug
that video of the crying baby who won’t settle down and go to sleep until dad climbs in the crib with her?? that’s dad jack and small angel, people. she won’t let him leave, send help.
the halloween experience (tm) with angel wanting to be anything BUT a fluffy-winged lyre-playing little creature. no she wants to be the Cool/Scary Angel -- so dad cobbles together a nightmarish, multi-eyed nebulous little costume that spits fire and angel is the happiest. the costume is quickly banned from school.
( he later reuses the fire-shooting mechanics when she wants to be a dragon. )
SMALL ANGEL DEMANDING SUGARY CEREALS FROM EXHAUSTED DAD JACK who actually wants some too but needs to be the strong responsible parent and simultaneously: dad jack coastingthrough the ailes on the shopping cart with small angel going “WHEEE”; putting her on the belt at the checkout counter and letting her ride it down before scooping her off..............
balancingpcint: i just balancingpcint : want balancingpcint : jack being desperate to sleep balancingpcint : but angel not letting him asthehero: baby angel who won't sleep through the night, and jack gets up every hour and twenty-two minutes on the dot because she's crying again and has to sit with her until she's gone back to sleep asthehero: or angel at the fitful stage where nightmares are an every-night thing, coming to climb into bed with mom and dad, curling up under dad's arm and KICKING IN HER SLEEP while he tries to get her to settle down and sleep long enough for him to carry her back to her own bed asthehero: which eventually becomes angel who develops siren powers and they're a lot like growing pains except more frightening because she wakes up in weird places and every joint hurts and she's upset she keeps burning dad but he sits with her and keeps an eye on her so she can at least GO to sleep and not have to worry about waking up on the lawn asthehero: jack just wants to sleep but he needs to make sure she's okay every single time: the lifetime movie, the saga, the life
small angel who refuses to eat her food unless it’s been appropriately peppered and that means EVERYTHING has to be peppered, but she doesn’t actually LIKE pepper, she just wants to be included in the grown-up’s food rituals and will whine softly until dad pretends to pepper her ice cream for her
small angel in the “i cut my own hair and hid it behind my dresser and then proceeded to scream bloody murder because i did something i regret and also can’t tell you where i put my hair until next year comes around and you’re rearranging my room and oh look there’s all my hair and my doll’s hair and my stuffed animals fake fur that i shaved off in patches using dad’s good razors” stage of her life
