hello was wondering why semicolon in tags. (been thinking vaguely about revamping our tags system)
- @multiple-octopods
there isn’t really any specific reason? just means “posted by this person”. kinda distinguishes it from tags of the actual bird i guess.
we saw another one of our system friends do it a while back to sign-off on their posts and just decided to do it as well. we’ve also considered tagging the people featured in our comic strips as “: [name]” but ended up not doing it bc we kept forgetting. and also the difference between : and ; is so minuscule.
some systems do emojis or stuff to sign-off their posts but it is significantly easier for us to use bird names than it is to search for the correct emoji each time. same reason why we don’t use images to sign off stuff (we made a post about that yesterday i think?). semicolon + bird name is quick and easy, and we need tagging to be easy or half of us will never bother to do it lmao.
also there is no way we would remember our emojis. we already technically have emojis and just never use/remember them.
