RELIGION: Protestant Christian, leaning Baptist

While flexible about which church he attends, he’s always felt a spiritual connection with his faith, even leading him to go into the ministry during the Second Great Awakening (1790-1840) though he didn’t pursue it much farther than learning at seminaries and from fellow reverends around the Burned Over district in Western New York State, where he lived briefly during that period.

His ministry was very short lived as he got disenchanted with the general handling of religion being a more rational person himself as the preaching of the time was very emotionally charged and too dramatic for his tastes.

He’s a much more spiritual person, being more focused on the relationship rather than the religious overtones and structures nor is he one to be dogmatic about his religious views.

He still sees a strong disconnect between the religion and the message provided in the Bible so he has a bad taste in his mouth to this day.

He feels his religious views are better handled privately so realistically none of this will come up.

However, during the 1970s, he became a minister again for a few short years until the congregation found a replacement after the senior pastor at his church in Albany left abruptly. He’s been heavily involved in his community and church for a long time.

PERSONALITY --

Mark isn’t one to sit around and wait for something to happen. He’ll be the first one to go out and get shit done, and he’s willing to get his hands dirty if need be.

He’s pretty bold, but compared to my New York City, he’s not as loud as Sean can be, volume-wise at least. However, he does tend to roar louder and push forward further than him. He’ll stand strong and defend things he cares about with an unwavering passion if he believes it’s right.

He’s definitely a strong individual and force to be reckoned with, however, he may come off differently than how he perceives himself. He has a lot of perseverance when it comes to completing his goals and he really does try to do what’s best. Sometimes, however, that doesn’t work out, and he might end up making things worse.

An outdoors-man at heart, you can find him in the Catskills or in the Adirondacks when he doesn’t have to be working in Albany or checking up on his other cities.

BRIEF HISTORY --

Albany is one of the longest chartered cities in the US and one of the oldest original settlements from the thirteen original colonies. It was found originally by Henry Hudson (the Dutch) in 1609 and in 1614 there was European settlement. It was officially charted in 1686 and later became the capital of New York State in 1797.

The Albany Congress, during the French and Indian War, was one of the first time the colonists were able to unite. Although, they still didn’t want to give up their states’ rights and kept seeing themselves as New Yorkers, Virginians, etc.

New York City was a British stronghold, after Washington’s loss of Brooklyn Heights, all the way up to the end of the war. It was the last port to be evacuated.

New York City was also chosen as capital for the new nation and served under the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution until it moved to Philly.

     “ SILENCE --- in my operating room! ”

          Henrik’s sitting at a table, hunching over an Operation board game.   He’s holding a very real pair of tweezers,  with a tiny plastic phone held in place by said tweezers.  He remains still for a moment,  eyes darting back and forth from the board game to the trash can nearby.   Finally, Henrik drops the plastic phone into the bin and leans back.   “ This is so stupid.   Why am I doing this?   I was told this is larping.   What even is larping?   I do not understand anymore.”

          He turns to Mark next,  tugging his mask back.   “ Please tell me you understand this....slang, because I do not. ”

Mark didn't waste any time rushing over to Sean and taking hold of his arm. "Come with me.." There was a big, warm smile adorning his expression as he lead the other outside. It was a clear night and for once, the stars were quite visible. "Look! We're getting meteor showers tonight." He had yet to let go of his arm. In fact, once they stopped walking, Mark moved his arm up to rest around Sean's shoulders.

           No matter how hard he tried to hide it, Sean couldn’t stop the eager grin from forming on his face. Mark’s excitement was contagious, and eve Sean had to admit he loved hearing and learning anything he could about what went on in the skies.

          “Ohhh, remind me t’ record a video,” he said, leaning into Mark a little. “I need t’ show this t’ Jack later. He’d love t’ see it!” Not that he wanted to focus on other people, Mark was clearly the most important person here. 

          “After it’s over too, we should camp out for th’ night,” he added. “Make tonight even more special.”
