“Hey man, you know I at least gotta ask!”
All the nuns back down the blue waves would’ve had consecutive heart attacks if they knew about the ‘shared misadventures’ he got up to these days. Jay wouldn’t have it any other way... though he’d at least say sorry to Sarah. She’d been a nice ‘mom friend’.
That poor lady being harassed in the bar had looked almost like her to a scary degree. It made him realize just how similar humans could look sometimes, beyond blood relation business.
Sometimes the odds just made another Sarah copy and placed them in your path when you’re trying to have a good time with your drinking buddy, and it activated your ‘protect the small bean’ instincts so hard you stood up and decked a fucker out of his chair.
...oh wow, thinking back on it was making him angry again! Hahaha!! Time to stop that silly nonsense.
Fletch approaches with a real old looking broom. Jay lifts a brow at it, but helps him slide that bad boy home. Thaaaat was not going to hold for very long at all, but judging by the rope he was now being pulled toward, it only needed to hold just long enough for them to get up and jump to freedom. Climbing, he could do!
It had taken ages for his wings to grow large enough for him to actually fly with them. Practicing climbing, jumping, and, most dangerous of all, gliding back down with skimpy wings, had been his life for awhile as a little hare. At any rate, even if he didn’t climb as much these days, he still diddly darn had the skills for it!
Fletch didn’t have the same crazy speed or leg strength as he did, especially in this form, so Jay makes sure to help haul him up as soon as he’s close enough. It’s only when Fletch is turning back to salvage some of the rope that his comment just moments ago actually hits him. He frowns in confusion, eyes squinted slightly when Fletch turns back around.
Fletch’s explanation makes him explode with laughter. He slaps his friend’s back as the splinter and crack of wood grows louder, latching onto Fletch’s coat to make sure he didn’t accidentally topple forward and start rolling down the potentially rotted barn roof from the impact.
“ ‘Bonnie rat’, oh wow, he’d fashion you into a duffle for that!”
Still laughing, he steps out, testing the waters with his heavier weight before he lets go of Fletch and scoots in front of him, leaning forward and holding his arms out, head turning to look back.
“Hop on my friend, I'll jump us down real quick’n run us a bit away while they’re distracted inside: No more wasting arrows this way, yeah?”
Jay could handle heavy impact better than Mr Hollow Bones could, not to mention run faster in general. And, well, if any of the angry humans managed to find them in the woods, Fletch’s arms would be free for shooting if need be.
