Summer Spectacle

Despite its increasing scientific population, Amity Park as a town still clung to old traditions in unexpected ways. On June first, for example, when every school in the district was safely out of session, there was an annual summer festival to mark the change. 

Danny wasn’t exactly thrilled to be out sweating in the heat, but considering that post-portal the event tended to draw both seasonal spirits and the usual show hogs, he felt marginally obligated to stick around and keep an eye on things. Besides, the games were fun, the rootbeer floats delicious, and this year they were holding a light show. 

Speaking of, it was getting to that point in the evening for Danny to amble loosely toward the large stage set in the center of the park. He grinned as he listened to Tucker goad Sam into another prolonged rant about how much littering people were always trying to get away with at these kind of things.

Well crap. 

Small hitch in settling this: my sources strongly suspect that it’s the mayor who did the break in. This just got really, really complicated, and... I may be considering something drastic to settle this.

Gateless verse: What scares you the most about growing up?

The fact that more is going to keep happening and there’s always a chance I could snap under the strain, or make one or several mistakes that catapult and cascade into catastrophe.

And maybe a little bit the fact that I don’t know who I’m going to be in ten, twenty, thirty years, or what people will think of me, or what I’ll think of me. Wondering if the people I rely on now are still going to be around, or if I’m going to have to get by on other means.

But you know, I recognize it’s kind of irrational to be afraid of change, so. Ready or not, here we go.
