location: in luc's study in the red keep, very late in the evening

the red keep was enveloped in the tranquility of the night, a sanctuary where the usual castle cacophony surrendered to a serene hush. raindrops danced on the windowpane, their rhythm interwoven with the occasional rumble of distant thunder. luc found himself immersed in his study, surrounded by a sea of documents and maps that told tales of realms and strategies.
the flickering candlelight cast a soft glow on his furrowed brow as he meticulously scribbled notes, completely absorbed in his task. the world around him faded into insignificance, the passage of time imperceptible in the quietude of his scholarly pursuits. it was in this focused trance that he remained until the king's presence silently materialized in the room.
"your grace," luc exclaimed, a rapid rise from his seat accompanied by a bow of his head to the king, adjusting his glasses mid-motion. "apologies for the mess; i was not expecting such a visit." his violet eyes briefly flitted to the window, noting the moon's ascent into the night sky. "gods, i did not realize how late it was either. i must have lost myself in my studies," he admitted, surveying the scattered pages strewn across his desk.
memories of his citadel days surfaced, nights spent with fellow maesters in relentless pursuit of knowledge, oblivious to the ticking clock. there was a certain nostalgia in that feeling, a yearning for camaraderie he once cherished. yet, now, amidst the scattered parchments, there was a newfound sense of purpose.
"is there something i can help you with, your grace?" luc inquired, his gaze returning to the king, now composed and ready to attend to any royal need.
