I have absolutely nothing that prompted it but apparently MQ-related stuff felt like biting me. One was an idea with a lapse, Lestari (Rune’s old life) kinda sorta tries to harm Warlic. Of course, to an outsider like say Tannim, this is just Rune acting unreasonably aggressive towards Warlic. But Warlic knows and he does feel bad even if he can reason it wasn’t his fault what happened with the Reset, an event that rewrote the formerly more sci-fiesuqe world that Lore used to be into the high fantasy land Lore is now.

And while sure, he’ll live no matter what is thrown at him (Rune’s like some years too young to be taking a powerful mage like Warlic) I can see him resign to it. I mean he’s already wallowing in this life’s mistakes, what’s a past sin to add to it? Anyway, the only reason Warlic isn’t damaged is because of Cysero. He was curious of what was going on and since it WAS technically in the one neutral area of his and Warlic’s shared tower, he could be there.

And he remembers the old life too. Although it occurred to me by my writings, Sys-Zero (Cysero’s old life) may not have known what happened after the ShadowScythe blew up the galaxy and Warlic’s failsafe, the Reset. But either way, he stops Lestari as Sys-Zero. 

It gives her pause but she tells him to stay out of her way. He won’t tries to reason although he knows that won’t work. He shoots down every time she mentions wanting to harm Warlic or that she really hates both of them. Because he knows that’s not true. She still loves them and respects them as much as she did before. Her anger is getting the better of her (there’s more than just anger but you gotta be short and sweet when you’re avoiding getting shanked). And he ends the fight with a low blow because Lestari is a brawler but she isn’t terribly underhanded.

Cysero will leave it Warlic to sort out explaining stuff to Rune’s very fucking concerned partner while he patches things up. He feels awful. Like ever since knowing of the Reset, he was hoping so badly to meet those he knew again. He wanted to see Lestari again as she was a good friend and comrade that he just wanted to know was doing fine. This is not fine. 

And it hurts more as he was a confidant to Lestari. They were close enough, he knew what she was like when there was no spotlight and no expectant eyes. He knew her hopes and dreams. And those dreams, while big in a sense was tiny compared to the massive plans against the ShadowScythe she ended up with. She just wanted to become and be remembered as a pilot. What she became was a hero of their galaxy. And what she said just before losing consciousness was the same before a major mission:

“I didn’t want this.” 

And the other thing was really simple compared to the above. I thought of Lestari being so busy/forgetful that she ends up with crap tons of messages and voicemails that she forgets to listen to or delete. And when alone on that ship, she just listened each and everyone one of them over and over because it was the only way to hear everyone’s voice with this path.

Okay so time to be thinking about the Inn at the Edge of Time and how it goes with the duo’s timeline. And initially I wanted to not have it at all because quite frankly I can’t imagine Rune ever wanting to establish such a thing. However seeing it, I am ambivalent. Mainly because I’m not sure with timey wimey stuff in Lore anyway but eh, I should give it a shot.

At least this dimension’s Rune would have little interest in such a thing outside of hearing what other dimensions are like. But since there’s such a variety of beings for probably every ‘what if’, it’s not impossible. I think that the ones that established the inn likely believed in preparedness in an extreme sense or suffered enough loss to want to it to be better for their other selves.

Also because the naming would irk them, all of the selves that live/work within the inn all go by different names. Some important. Some pulled from a hat. Most when they engage in a talk choose an alias and address each other by that alias. It makes it a little easier and less...weird to most of them. They don’t regulate the activities of what their other selves do as they’ll probably loophole it somehow so just no violence is the major rule.

Tannim is...odd when it comes to the Edge of Time. He feels ill staying there for any longer than a night but usually stomachs it because Rune is curious about it. He is a weird status that can garner attention if any of his friend’s selves ask about him. Tannim is simultaneously in every dimension and not. Physically, Tannim only exists in the timeline that he has with Rune. However he has a presence in all dimensions, all which vary. But he can look and talk to any given dimension’s Rune and he instantly has knowledge of his self of that dimension and speak to the Rune he is around easily because he knows what is going on. He’s been asked about it and Tannim says he doesn’t know why he knows it, just that he does. He also doesn’t like it because he gets headaches and talking to multiple people muddles his head.

Rune personally doesn’t prefer to go there as he also has occasional headaches going there and finds himself avoiding the dragon that lurks outside the inn. He also keeps a journal specifically for his ventures there.

Okay so I spent a good day talking over......shenanigans about how things go down timeline wise for the duo as well as Lore itself. So allow me to do a spiel of sorts because I doubt I remember all this in another week.

It has always been my thought that the age that we’re in DF is recent. Recent being only 10-20 years. This is mainly because of both Drakath’s words and Alteon’s reign. The Drakath were a power for a long time despite being tyrannical jerks. It just so happened that about a decade or so that had a combination of a spineless king, Dinkelheim, and strong-willed people that led to such an upheaval.

It was Alden that technically was led the coup with a multitude of allies (like I said, Drakath are tyrannical jerks). Andrei, Tannim’s guardian, had been one of these allies along with his partner, Yeira, as they taught light magic to members of the resistance as the Drakath’s forces are primarily darkness based. They technically were not allowed to be in it as the Paladin Order doesn’t interfere with these kinds of matters. So they did not act as paladins but passionate citizens that wanted this change to occur. Yeira actually did most of the light magic training because Andrei was banished to making weaponry for the fight. It was during this time period Andrei met and became friends with Yulgar, one of the main smiths in the game, and his wife, whose ability with animals were impressive.

Killian, Rune’s grandfather, also participated in the coup. He was actually a key player that they had wondered for a while if he’d be viable because his sporadic presence. However he had confidence from the knights participating within the coup as he was their instructor and held his loyalties to those that came to his care. To the Drakath, Killian was an obstinate man that held no regard for civility but it could not be denied that he was great if not ruthless tactician. Because of this he held a decent station. Enough of one that he could manage to open the drawbridge of the fortress that was Dreadhaven, the capitol of the kingdom.

But one of the very important players was Alden’s close friend and confidant, Valen. He was a talented knight by far although disliked by the Drakath because of his noble qualities and self-assurance. However what not many knew was that Valen was young. Like he was only 15 at this time. He had a rather rigorous upbringing from a warrior mother that only became coupled with his training under Killian. His mother died not long prior to the end phases of the coup and spent much of his time devoted to the cause. Alden did consider not letting Valen participate but was shut down by Valen’s own will to participate and because he knew that a person with Valen’s talent could turn the tides in their favor. Doesn’t mean he didn’t drink in guilt that he did so.

The coup wasn’t without bloodshed but it wasn’t a massacre either. The king was executed with the prince having escaped t o later be the leader of bandits that Tannim and Rune meet years later. Drakath was only 8 at the time of the upheaval. Drakath has always been within Rune’s age range but I usually chose older than him because I just find it funny. So at the time in history, Noita was only 6. Tannim was not around yet. 

When the coup ended, Alden was chosen to take the place of the old family. That wasn’t his thought as he’d thought that maybe anyone with a vein of royal blood that wasn’t an ass would do so instead. However it seemed almost everyone else had this agreed upon. It wasn’t without its turbulence as remnants of loyalists attempted to kill the traitors. Valen was around to protect Alden. Andrei and Yeira resumed their paladin duties and assumed to be uninvolved. Killian had been seriously injured during the coup and disappeared to Doomwood, as even loyalists wouldn’t follow into such a dark place, which was believed to be best because no matter the outcome, he was a traitor.

This eventually led to the establishment of Swordhaven, the redubbed capitol and King Alteon’s reign. It was supposed to be a time of prosperity that seemed to last until Valen’s death and the rise of Sepulchure...which is two years before the start of Book 1 and the duo’s adventures.

Had an idea for dragonfable world headcanons although I’m pretty sure it’s debunked easy. Nonetheless I wanted to share it. 

Okay, so Death comes when someone’s dead, yes? It seems like it doesn’t matter who or what it is, Death will come. But what if Death’s realm is only a buffer? Rather than a true underworld, what if it was just like a purgatory? Souls stay there for a while...and then they move on. Onto where? My idea was that beings have various options. They can ‘ascend’, they can become a denizen of the elemental plane they had an affinity for (a person with a fire affinity becoming apart of the Plane of Fire), or they can reincarnate, which assures you absolutely nothing. 

But there’s one exception, you can’t go onto the planes and can only remain in Death’s Realm or reincarnate when you are tainted. These are beings that have had their affinity corrupted. This would be like Sepulchure. He can stay in Death’s Realm but obviously, you’re gonna run out of things to do. So then it’s reincarnation. If you are not corrupted this time around, all options are open next time.

You know, if the Land of Dragons gathered spatial magic users. Like those that could use transport magic or can create portals (like Drakath or Izaac), it, technically could be possible to make a large portal to transport all of Atrea into a more favorable location in Lore. Like Doomwood. I say Lore since if they truly across a vast area of space, mages might not be able to get them back to Somorah, without expending a lot of mana since going off of Warlic, his mana pool is easily greater than the normal. But seriously, it’d be nice if they could move. Nirios is the only thing keep Atrea cloaked in darkness. If they moved to Doomwood, he wouldn’t have to exhaust himself and maybe they’d be able to focus on other things.

I don’t think I ever explained how things work in terms of other blogs and the duo’s verse. Anyway, now I am. For the most part, the heroes of their own blog are just fellow adventurers to them. They’ve encountered each other in wars and maybe crossed paths during some of the story line quests but essentially doing their own thing. Exceptions belong to condor-herooflore, inthemiddleofagame, and spadetail-soulweaver in terms of how the worlds break down. 

In Condor’s case, Tannim and Rune are aware she isn’t from the same timeline as they are as she’s kind of outright told them that. She has explained that time isn’t straightfoward and actually a mess of various timelines. They know she is in their position in some other world and that she is further than they are. This is known because she already knew of what they were doing when they told her. Rune has asked about Condor’s experiences in the future but by some order with chronomancers, Condor cannot (or will not) tell them about it. However, with some readjustment of Condor as of late, this may be null.

In Ty’s case, they have this strange kind of meshing of timelines. The duo are actually ahead of Ty, having both knowledge and skills from Book 2. It’s only been hit on once and that was during a casual one. Like Condor, Tannim and Rune don’t really speak of what they know. Ty, actually, hardly asks them about what lies ahead. Maybe because she may not be completely aware they are further in the hero’s path than she is as during their first encounter she is not aware of what Rune’s cryptic powers are. 

With Spade, this is somewhat of a variance to the normal verse to them. Everything is the same except they meet Spade and not Tomix. This would drastically alter the Ravenloss saga but I can’t say how as I don’t know how it is with Spade’s verse. However, they both know him because of their initial trek to Ravenloss and their reoccurring visits to him. Their relation is altered a bit as Tomix’s personality or even age is not the same as it with Spade.
