(Modern teen!Adelaide) "Daaad, if I got the snacks and the drinks and if I pinky swear to clean up afterwards, can we host the Wrestlemania party this year?" Addy asked, batting her blonde eyelashes. "I know that your... Perception about wrestling has been tainted since the trampoline incident, but I was young and foolish. But it's gonna be such a good show, the first women's main event, Kofi Kingston coming in for the championship, you probably don't know what that means but it's super cool!"

Mortimer let out a forced exhale through his nose and tried to put on a pleasant, though loop-sided smile. 

“It depends on when it is. And who you plan on inviting. I cannot have you being loud while a viewing is going on downstairs, you know.”

"Who are you calling pumpkin head?" She said through her laughter. "Come on, I'm not so bad. I'm just trying to have some fun, I won't be young and rebellious forever." It was hard, knowing that she couldn't do all that she wanted to do. Play roller derby, get into fights, run though fire, there was only so much excitement that she could take, but a lot of the time, she didn't care. "But, I guess a full faced mask won't work because, y'know, singing. I could be a ghost, I already look like one."

“We can only hope, dear, we can only hope.” He gently patted her shoulder. “If you want to be a ghost, I have enough white sheets and gowns in storage that I am sure I can find something for you to make into a costume.”

"Dad, I'm not a little kid anymore. I'm smart enough to make good decisions." She held him by the shoulders and spun him around to face her, she was wearing a pumpkin. "You believe me, right?" She'd had the same lecture so much that she didn't take it seriously anymore, maybe she should, but she thought her dad was being too overprotective. She's sick, not made of paper.

“Adelaide, if you actually made those good decisions that you talk of, then maybe I would be a little less worried about you. I know that you are smart, but sometimes the knowledge that you have in that...” He rolled his eyes with a dramatic sigh and threw up his hands. “Pumpkin head of yours does not translate very well into the real world. You need to work on your application.”

"Dad, you're worried about me having to go to the hospital, I know you too well." She poked a toy skull from above the shelf, using it like a ventriloquist puppet as she spoke. "I know, the last party wasn't... Great. But this isn't a rave, it's just a house party that someone from my school is holding, the girls and I will be playing in the garage, I won't be far." She ended up fainting at the last one she went to. Raving is not for her.

“That is an understatement.” He sighed again. “I know that you will have your friends with you, and I trust them, but you need to be mindful of yourself. That is all that I ask of you.”

(Modern!Teen Adelaide) "Ooh! What about Jason Vorhees?" Addy grabbed the hockey mask and placed it over her face. She was going to a Halloween party this year, both as a live band with Smack Beauty and as a guest. "Are you sure you're not gonna worry? I promise I'll be totally fine."

Mortimer trailed behind his daughter at a respectable distance as she searched through the aisles and shelves for a Halloween costume. “What ever makes you happy.

“Dear, I am always going to worry; I am your father, that’s what I do. But,” He exhaled slowly. “I am learning to trust.”

"I think..." Adelaide paused, she knew how her father would worry about her, being left alone in this state. Maybe true strength comes from helping someone else when you're down. "I think I'll stay down here with you, we'll kick back, watch a movie. It's been a while since... We've done that, y'know?" She missed the time she spent with her father, that got slimmer and slimmer since she met her beloved bandmates.

“Yes, it has.” He titled his head slightly and smiled faintly. “Why don’t you go pick out a movie and I will order us something to eat.” Take out was always the safest option -- Mortimer’s cooking skills had barely improved over the years. “What do you want tonight? Pizza? Chinese?”

"Dad..." Shit, now she felt guilty. And still unwell. The reality of the situation was she wouldn't mind sitting down and watching a movie with Mortimer, but she was trying to be an adult, her own badass woman. But she wasn't badass here, she was weak, and she felt bad. She stepped closer and hugged him tight. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have snapped at you. I just... I guess I can't... I dunno, I'm just fed up is all. Not sad, just sick of it, sick of living like this..."

.Without hesitation he wrapped his arms around her tightly in turn, placing a kiss atop her head before resting his cheek against it. “I know you are tired, dear, I know. None of this has been easy for you.”

He quietly rubbed her back for a few moments.

“Do you still want to go up to your room?”
