It was a rough few months, helping Steve get back up on his feet after his mom passed, but Bucky was glad he did it. Granted, he made a few mistakes there and there, like joining the Army and getting ready for war, but otherwise he was doing well.
He had an apartment down by the docks, he still had his job with the shipping company, and his neighbors were decent people. On one side, he had a lovely old couple who would ask how he and Steve were doing, and bring flowers or cookies once in a blue moon; on the other side was a tall, handsome man who mostly stuck to himself. He would occassionally catch Bucky off guard though, while retrieving the mail, or when he was returning from work.
Tonight just so happened to be one of those nights, having just got back from the packaging warehouse. He had his tool bag in one hand, and his jacket in the other. It was nice out, the weather warm enough to not need it, but still cold enough for it in the morning.
