“Didn’t I tell you not to come here anymore? I don’t need your boyfriend showing up again."
“I don’t see it as a problem. If your so called surprise involves laying a hand on me, I’ll scream bloody murder.”
“Oh, I’m just shaking in my boots. That all you got?”
“I could do worst, but I prefer the element of surprise.”
He stumbles forward into his brothers arms, taking a long moment to gather himself. His brother was exactly the same as he remembered, even smelled the same. Blade took a few minutes to ask him a bunch of his questions that had been keeping him awake at night. A few minutes later, he turned away and back towards the girl. “I’m ready to go now.” He said with a small smile.
arden distanced herself, giving him time with his brother. she had always wanted to help those on earth she believed deserved it, but she had never gotten much of a chance before now. she returned to his side once his brother had returned to the light world in which he resided now, and she closed her eyes, transporting them back to where they belonged in seconds.
Once they returned, Blade took a few minutes to gather all his thoughts. It didn’t exactly feel real, but he also that what he had felt couldn’t have been a dream. He takes both her hands into his, rubbing his thumbs gently across her skin. “You really don;t know how much that meant to me. Seeing him...It gave me some hope.”
“You should, it puts hair on your chest.” Or at least that’s what his father always told him, so it must have been a Canadian thing. “I guess that mean’s you’re doing tequila shots with me.” he chuckled, pulling him towards the kitchen.
“Chest hair is fucking gross, why would I want that?” he snorted, still leaning heavily against him. “I can do a few shots, but not many.”
“I mean, some people are into it.” He half laughs, grabbing the first bottle he sees ad two shot glasses. “As long as you don’t puke on me, I’m completely fine with that.”
I wasn’t on for like 5 days and yesterday I only replied to 2 things, so I’m hoping to get everything done!
“Un bebe.” She gestures rocking a baby.
“An infant,” this is not going well.
“Yeah...” At least he’s not totally freaking out.
She resists the urge to smack his arm when he uses kiddo on her again, but simply laughs it off once more. It’s not that she minds the nickname, but hates how she’s still a kid in his eyes. “Maybe another night, don’t want you catching a cold.” Lilly also knows for a fact that she’d probably lose her balance and end up in the water as well, so she chooses to save it for another day. She stays seated as he lays down, another laugh escapes her lips. “Yeah, that’s exactly why. No, uh—” Her voice beguines to trail, eyes locked onto her hands as she tries to gather her thoughts. “I guess for a while I thought I was too cool for camp. All my friends used to make fun of me, say camp was for losers with no friends. So, I spent my summer’s running around shopping and doing stupid shit. I hated it. Hated every part of it. I wanted to come back last summer, but the second I mentioned going away they started teasing me again.” There’s another long pause as she sighs, thinking back to what her former friends used to say to her. “Then something happened and it changed my life completely. I got rid of those so called friends and decided to do what makes me happy. Eden was always my favorite place and I hate how long it took me to get back.”
Quin nods as he listens to her intently, and he feels sad that she thought camp was uncool for so long. It’s nice to know more about her, though. The deeper stuff and not just the fact that she’s blossomed from this cute, little brat into a very beautiful and mature woman. Not just the fact that she’s so good with her girls, or the fact that she smokes. So much has happened in Lilly’s life since she was eleven-years-old and Quin is so curious to hear about all of it. He doesn’t tell her this, though. Instead, he decides that maybe he could offer a bit of his own depth. “For a while I felt the same way, too, but mostly my reasoning was for the fact that it was my parents’ way of keeping me out of trouble during the summer. It wasn’t until I turned eighteen and found myself coming back on my own terms that I realized how much I love it here.” He didn’t expect to spit out so much at once, but he’s sure she doesn’t mind. It’s late and night and they’re alone. Personal discussions are inevitable, if not mandatory. “It shaped me growing up and I can only hope to do that with the new kids who come here, too,” he adds as an afterthought, glancing up at the sky as he folds his arms under his head as a makeshift pillow. It’s still pretty chilly out, but he’s surprising comfortable lying outside and enjoying the peaceful of nature. “I’m really glad you came back, Lilly,” he says, returning his attention back to her as a smile tugs slightly at the corners of his lips.
Lilly watches him as he speaks, trying to get a read on his emotions. Quin wasn’t exactly the easiest person to read, especially since he was laying down and she felt a little awkward staring at him. She pulls her pack out of her pocket again, quickly popping a cigarette in her mouth and lighting it up. “I feel like that kind of stuff happens a lot. As you get older the things you love kind of fade into the back of your memory, but it’s always nice to get back to those things ‘yanno? It’s like a spark of happiness you forgot you had.” She takes a long drag, exhaling slowly. “I feel the same way. I really want to be a friend with these girls too, someone they can come to even outside of camp.” She’s staring at the cigarette now, watching it burn slowly. Lilly doesn’t usually smoke out of boredom but tonight seemed like one of those nights. She took one last drag before tossing it and laying down beside him, her hand brushing gently against his. “I am too.” Her voice trails a bit, a blank expression creeping onto her face. If they were going to have a deep conversation, Lilly decided to let him in on what had had actually happened to her. “I was in this car accident back in December...I don’t remember much because I was knocked out for a minute or two. When I woke up...” There’s a break in her voice, a fear tears start to fall down the side of her face. “My pa-rents...both of them...” She couldn’t even put the sentence together, it was the first time she had really told anyone about this accident.

He’s taken by surprise when the light appears, and the tears fall even more at the sight of his brother. It had been almost exactly two years since his death but to Blade it still felt like it was yesterday that he got the news. “So he’s at peace?” He reached one of his hands out slowly, wanting to feel if Josiah was truly there. “Can he hear me? Talk to me?”
arden nodded as she heard his words. ❛most souls so long as they are good and also not lost, are just fine.❜ she rubbed his arm, and giggled ever so slightly. ❛he is as real here as you and me.❜ she mused, and nudged him towards his brother. he wasn’t see-through at all, but solid and he could speak as much as anyone else in this realm.
“This is the last time I’m bailing your ass out of jail.”
he flashes her a caring smile as she gets on and within a few seconds. blade kept the bike at a low speed, just fast enough for a gentle breeze to blow through their hair. a few minutes in, he stops at a red light and turns back to her. “are you having fun yet?”
her grip on his waist grew a little tighter and she hut her eyes as they began to go forward, her curls whipping behind her as they hung from under the helmet. after a minute or so, she opened her eyes and let herself watch the cars and buildings that went by. it was… kind of relaxing. she snapped out of the tiny daze she was in when he spoke to her and she smiled at him. “ uh… k-kinda. I’m n-not nervous anymore. ”
“That’s good.” He glances back at the light for a slit seconds, thankfully it’s still red. “So, is there anywhere specif you’d like to go or can I take you to one of my favorite places?” He asked curiously, wiggling his eyes brows at her.
