Calling You || Y+J
It had begun as an inkling that Junhyung should probably ask what was bothering Yoseob. It wasn’t the first time that he had been aware that the male was dealing with inner struggles that were affecting his daily life. However, he knew that his pestering quality to ask could be overwhelming. Especially when he shigofumi needed his space to figure things out. So the male had made a valiant effort in their relationship to not question every tiny detail, because he had trusted that Yoseob would talk to him about his issues when he was ready. However, the day seemed to never come as days turned to weeks and weeks became a month.
It also wasn’t like the male seemed to be plagued everyday…well in the beginning. So the elf would let it go, assuming whatever had upset him had passed, but it would come back a few days later , rising to the surface. It scared him and built insecurities that he didn’t think existed. Was Junhyung the cause for all of this? Yoseob was the physical sort in that contact was always needed in their relationship. Yet, the male began to pull away from him, excuses spilling from his lips laced with poison that ate away at the elf’s heart. Had he found someone else? Instead of spending time at home, the male was frequently gone early in the day and arrived home when the elf was asleep. It keyed the elf up so bad that he hardly slept. Even with Yoseob thought he was asleep, most nights he didn’t give in to the anxious exhaustion that consumed him until he heard him slip into bed. He was relieved that he came home and didn’t find solace in someone else’s bed. However, the relief was short lived as he awoke to a cold spot where Yoseob belonged. As much as the elf wanted to ask, he was so desperately afraid of the answer that he bit his tongue. Instead he tried to be more romantic, making the effort to do things that pleased Yoseob and to be understanding so that he wouldn’t push him away. No such luck.
Junhyung finally met his breaking point as he deliberately stayed away from their home as long as possible. He couldn’t bear to be in a house that seemed so empty of life. He knew he couldn’t stay away forever. Haven would need dinner and well she shouldn’t be left home alone for a long period. With heavy steps Junhyung did arrive at home, entering the kitchen and muttering an “I’m home” to emptiness. It didn’t used to be like that. With pursed lips he noticed the flickering of the house phone, signaling a voicemail had been left. Reaching over to the receiver he brought the phone up to his ear and listened. The voice that came through had his stomach dropping. Why would Yoseob call the home phone instead of his cell phone? Why wasn’t he coming home? Why did he sound so upset? None of it made sense and the panic began to set in as his hands shook.
Steps echoed in the foyer and frantically the male spun around hoping to see the familiar male with a smile. However disappointment settled in him as Haven looked at him with the same sad expression. “Daddy hasn’t been acting normal. You didn’t do anything did you?” It came out more as a question as if the girl didn’t think it was the elf’s fault either and were merely something they both didn’t understand. “No, nothing has happened. I think it’s…work related.” Junhyung knew that Yoseob’s forced work as letter deliverer for the dead could cause emotional turmoil, but this was something bigger and far worse. “I have a few important calls to make, so I’m going to step outside for a while. You just go watch some television. I’ll have dinner on soon or your God Mother will see to it.” With a forced smile, the elf gestured for her to go into the living room as he stepped out on the back porch. It was then he let the terror rage fully in his stomach, hands shaky as he dialed his lover’s number. “You better pick up.” He kept thinking that over and over thousands of thoughts fluttering through his mind in a frenzy as he paced around.
