Character Development Questions
1. What’s an important lesson your muse has learned over the past few years and how has that changed the way they live?
here.
6. Is your muse looking for a long term relationship? Are they in one? What do they think of marriage and binding themselves to someone?
Sabo is the type to take things as it come. He does not go out to actively look for love. Besides, in his line of work, he has no time to actually go look for love. If he’s meant to find someone, he will. There’s no hurry anyway.
Same for marriage. He thinks marriage is just a ceremony to show everyone that a couple belongs to each other. As for him marrying anyone in the future, he does not think that far yet, considering that he might die before he even marry.
16. Are they addicted to anything at all? Do they crave something when they haven’t had it in a while? Has this ever endangered them or others?
Sabo have destructive addictions. He enjoys the thrill of fighting and the adrenaline, so he tends to go out of control in a battle and demolish everything around him. He likes to think of it as a way to remind him that he’s alive and that he’s still here, and so he unconsciously seeks out pain in a battle to assure him that he hasn’t detach himself from the world.
17. What prominent habits does your muse have and how would they respond if they were forced to change them? Are they adaptable or dependent on their routines?
Sabo does not take change well, but he’s adaptive. When he was suddenly ripped from his brothers and dumped in the hands of the Revolutionary, it was his biggest and most violent change in his life. Anything else was trivial, and Sabo learned to adapt to most situations in his life.
He’s an early riser, and likes to wake up just after the sun rises to take his time. When Ace died, he suffered a bout of depression that caused him to lose sleep and then continued sleeping for hours. It left him wrecked and losing all control of his life as his usual habits were forced to change because of his grieving.
Sabo also has a very expressive face, and hiding his anxiety and nervousness was near impossible. He tends to have several habits that reveals his anxiety, like pacing and fidgeting and twisting his fingers. He cannot stand still when he’s anxious, and moving calms him.

Character Development Questions
1. What’s an important lesson your muse has learned over the past few years and how has that changed the way they live?
Ever since the day Sabo was blasted out of his tiny boat for ‘blocking’ the path of a Tenryubito, he was forced to learn that sometimes life just does not go the way you want. He dreamed of freedom for years, craved it like a dying man does for water. And when he finally obtained it, when he finally, truly escaped from his parents, he was separated from the only people he loves most. Was it truly freedom he seeks after all? Unable to return to his brothers, I believe Sabo was forced to grow up quickly at that point. He took his grief and sorrow and turned it into a determination to change the world that had ripped him away from his brothers. Because like what Dadan said (even though he was not there), it was the World Government, the nobles they supported, and the world that ripped him from his brothers, and until he become someone, then he can change the world. So Sabo was forced to bid his time, to stay away from the one family that he has chosen until he becomes strong enough to be someone.
2. How does the time your muse lives in influence their lifestyle? Are they happy they’re born in their time, or do they fantasise about a different era?
Sabo grew up in a luxurious lifestyle as a noble. Before he ran away, he has never knew the true meaning of poverty and starvation and having to do whatever he needed to survive. However, under the glamour and wealth was a life of neglect and abuse. Sabo had heavy expectations upon his shoulders his entire life, forced to be the best by his parents, to uphold the family’s reputation, to bring glory to the family when he’s older and etc. He was isolated since he could walk, and loneliness and sadness was a big part of Sabo’s childhood before meeting Ace.
Sabo’s caged life was the catalyst that led to him desiring a life out at sea. No, perhaps, it was the very notion of freedom that drove him to run away. Sabo’s first dream was not to become a pirate. Frankly, it was because of Ace and Luffy that he yearned to be a pirate because it was through them that he learned that being a pirate symbolized ‘freedom’.
3. Does your muse focus mainly on one long term goal or multiple short term ones? What do they think about the reachability of their goals and what are they?
I think Sabo has a pretty short attention span, but he also believes strongly in completing whatever he starts. Revolutionizing the world and changing the government was a long-term goal that Sabo has decided on when he’s a child. It’s practically his lifework.
However, as idealistic as his goals are, he’s also pretty realistic compared to his brothers. He knows his capability. He knows that this is not something that will probably come true in his lifetime. Maybe it may even spans decades. But he believes that even if it’s not something that will come to term in his lifetime, he could still change things. If he could save as many lives and free as many people doomed to be slaves, he would spend his entire life as a revolutionary.
Retiring was never a thought for him. He would die a revolutionary.
4. Is your muse an optimist or pessimist and how does this influence their choices?
In terms of his ability, Sabo’s very confident, so in whatever sort of dangerous situations, he’s optimistic that he can survive it.
Generally, he’s quite distrusting of strangers, despite him looking like the friendlier brother. That does not means he will not give them a chance. He tries to believe in other people and their goodness, and unless they hurt the people he loves and does not regret, he is willing to give them a second chance even if they’re villains. However, once he trusts you, he’s yours for life.
Yet, Sabo does not think much of himself, so he tends to shy away from relationships that comes a little too close to being intimate and personal.
5. Does your muse have any irrational fears that hold them back in life? Do they come from experience (trauma) or is it, for instance, part of a belief system they have?
Sabo fears losing the people he loves and cares for. It makes him clingy, and afraid to get attached to people. Thus, he tends to push away people who wants to get closer and make him hate himself a little more because he thinks he’s being a coward.
Especially after Ace’s death, the fear to go through another death of someone important nearly crippled him. Sometimes, he finds himself losing control, of his own mind, of his body. At times, it’s like he’s moving through life underwater, barely able to control his own actions. He’s terrified of losing himself and not being able to remember to find his own way back.
Love is a strength, but Sabo believes that love is also a weapon that enemies can use to destroy him.
