One of Aryia’s greatest comforts is letting Izzy play with her hair, even if it’s too short to really do anything with (it doesn’t help that it’s perpetually messy and just a tad overgrown, since Aryia doesn’t have the patience to keep up with it) and very often times Izzy will find the archer asleep in her lap. It’s never for long, of course, but it’s still an accomplishment on Izzy’s part.

They rarely talk much—Aryia is, after all, Aryia, in addition to being too exhausted to keep up extended conversation, and Izzy doesn’t want to pressure her into speaking before she’s ready. The company, however, is always worth it to the both of them, and the late night walks become something of a regularity.

Aryia leaving two loaves of bread and a pitcher of water outside of Izzy’s room because she knows that once she and Josephine start to talk business they both forget to eat, or slipping sleep-aid herbs into their tea so that they don’t stay up all night for the third night in a row

Izzy taking time to approach Aryia while she’s checking the clan’s weapons and offering to help, because she doesn’t want Aryia doing it all herself, or Izzy sneaking little things like flower crowns or scraps of paper with book recommendations into Aryia’s gear just fo rthe little surprise

Aryia handing both Josephine and Izzy enchanted daggers not long after Josie discovers the warrant for her life, making them both swear to use them if necessary.

Izzy sitting with Aryia after Solas disappears and just quietly offering her a bottle of wine—Josephine had an entire cask of Antivan red stashed away in the Inquisition’s storeroom, for just such an occasion, she says. They drink for the rest of the night until Aryia gives a gentle smile and her thanks
