after halloween night, nils was . . . probably less than okay. he almost hadn’t been comfortable going home, instead hanging around the shadowy alleyways that even wildemount had, always looking over his shoulder. he had been too confident approaching everett; he had somehow escaped the other’s grasp once before, and he wasn’t sure he could do it a second time. the whole night, nils spent his time desperately trying to shift, focusing all his energy there whenever he wasn’t looking over his shoulder. it was only once the sun broke horizon that he was suddenly a little black and white bird, perfectly able to blend in with others that matched him. for the moment, he was safe.
it was also the first time the entire night he felt that pull to judah again, and it came with some relief; if they didn’t have their strange connection, nils knew judah would have no real reason to keep coming back. as soon as that pull was back, nils instinctively followed it, all the way back to the hotel. he wasn’t willing to transform back just yet, so instead he landed on the window of the room judah was apparently staying in. first, he tried taps on the glass. when that wasn’t working quickly enough, nils started squawking obnoxiously while smacking his beak against the glass. he even flapped his wings to get the other’s attention.
