Dear Kieran,

What can I say that I haven’t already? You’re my best friend, you’re my anchor. I’m not really sure where I’d be without you to be honest. You’ve been there for so long, that at this point we don’t even need to tell how we are feeling, we can read each other very well.

Thank you for putting up with me for so long, though our friendship had its ups and downs. You have been at my side doesn’t matter what. You’re one of the most important people in my life, I’d be so lost without you, I was for a while when we parted ways, but you have no clue how happy I was when I heard of you again, you piece of shit, don’t even dare to leave me again.

I do know that doesn’t matter what happens or how many years go by, you will be there for me, and I will be there for you, for everything you need, for advice, for a drink, for a laugh, or even if you wanna play poker at 5am. I will be there.

You are my brother, you’re my mate, you’re my family.I don’t know how else I can say thank you. But thank you.

Nightmares

Castiel didn’t know what happened. One minute he was cuddled up to Sam in bed, the younger Winchester’s arms wrapped around the ex angel, and the next he was opening his eyes to find he was curled in a corner, shaking and hiding from Sam.

He didn’t remember why. He didn’t recall how he got to the wall. Sleepwalking maybe?

His dream however, now that was terrible.

All he could see was Dean, h i s Dean, dead at his feet, a haunting expression on his face. Then he looked up and saw Sam, his mate. He gave a smile that wasn’t returned and trotted over. The Winchester gave him such a dark look, shoving him back when the ex angel went to hug him.

“Sam? What’s wrong?“ He’d ask, only to get a low growl and a scowl in response. "We’re done.” Sam said simply. “You aren’t worth my time, or anyone’s. Look what happened to Dean because of you!”

He flinched. That hurt. “But I didn’t-” Then those weren’t the eyes he came to know and love. They were a cold ice blue. “Lucifer.” He breathed. Lucifer smirked. “Sammy’s mine now, Castiel. And there’s nothing you can do about it.” Cas only then registered the tears streaming down his face. He was shaking. His head was spinning. “Sam, come back to me. Please…” He whimpered and the devil laughed. “He’s mine now, and you won’t get him back.”

Then he was out of the dream and in a nightmare worse. He opened his blue eyes only to see cold ice blue and a dark smirk, arms that weren’t Sam’s wrapped around him. Instead of that soothing voice of his mate, he could only hear Lucifer taunting him over and over.

Then he woke up, shaking like a leaf against the wall, tears streaming down his face and his throat raw from screaming. He looked up, a haunting, terrified expression on his own face to see Sam and Dean in the room, Sam crouched not too far from him. His lips were moving but Cas’s ears were ringing; he couldn’t hear a thing. Dean, though; Dean was glaring at him, standing just behind Sam. He said something and Sam shot him a glare before focusing on Castiel again.

Said ex angel tried to focus, narrowing his eyes slightly as more stray tears fell down his cheeks. Finally, his ears slowly stopped ringing as he found his voice again.

“Sam..” God his voice was raspy. How long did he spend screaming and thrashing? He felt more exhausted than when he went to bed the first time. He slowly reached a hand out and Sam took it, keeping his own movements slow. Cas felt like an animal, and judging by that growing bruise on Sam’s cheek, he didn’t blame him.

Then he was cradled in Sam’s arms, face stuffed in the crook of his neck, those strong arms holding him close and soothing him. He heard Dean sigh and leave, but it was the furthest thing from his mind. He let out a low sob and heard Sam speak softly, “it’s okay Cas, let it out”, and Cas hugged Sam tightly, breathing apology after apology.

Sam just shushed him softly, kissed his head and rocked him until he stopped crying. When the two were back in bed, Cas retold his dream to Sam and immediately got the reassurance he needed; “no, Lucifer doesn’t have me, it’s over, Dean’s alive and we’re okay”. Cas tucked his head under Sam’s chin and finally relaxed as Sam gently squeezed him close, rubbing his back and running his hand through his hair. “I.. Olani hoath ol, Sam…”

“Olani hoath ol, Castiel. Go back to sleep, and I’ll be right here when you wake up…”

Sam was finishing up putting some files away, restoring order to the filing system was a full-time job. He heard Cas enter and nodded in his direction with a small smile before getting back to work. He was halfway done...with the Fs. As he reached over to grab another book, his sleeve got pushed back a litte. On his wrist was what appeared to be part of a butterfly, drawn in pen. Of the part visible, was the letter "C" on the wing. (just-sam-please)

Cas smiled and walked over to Sam, planning to help but he paused when he saw Sam’s wrist. He stared a moment before going over and getting Sam’s attention, and when he had it, he took Sam’s hand and pressed a gentle kiss over the C before pecking his lips. “I’m so proud of you.” He whispered and gave Sam a sweet smile and another quick kiss. “I love you so much, Sam.”

Castiel was scared. Beyond scared, even; he was petrified. Sam hadn’t been returning his calls from the hunt he and Dean were on, not since the very first call they’d had when the boys were on the road.

Hello Sam, Dean. Be careful on this hunt and call me if you need anything, okay? I love you, mate.

Okay, babe. We will. I love you too.

Then whenever Cas called, it went straight to voice mail, when he texted, they were never responded to. He’d already thrown up once from worrying himself sick.

And the second he heard Sam and Dean’s voices from the bunker entrance,  Cas was there waiting and the moment Dean was out of the room, Castiel ran up to his surprised boyfriend and hugged him tight, the angel shaking.

Sam only had a second to hug him back before Cas leaned back and weakly hit his chest. Sam asked what happened and Castiel lost it.

“I was fucking worried about you!” Castiel yelled and Sam blinked in surprise as Castiel’s eyes filled with tears while he stared up at Sam. “Y-you didn’t answer my calls or my texts, and- and I was worried you’d gotten hurt and-”

Sam quickly pressed their lips together, silencing him. When he pulled back, Cas buried his face into Sam’s shoulder, shaking more and Sam held him. “Shh... I’m sorry, Cas. My phone died, I left my charger here, I’m sorry. Shh...”

When Castiel was calm again, Sam gave him a quick kiss and Cas looked up teary eyed at Sam. “I won’t do it again, babe, I’m sorry I scared you. I love you so much...” The hunter smiled, and Cas smiled a tiny bit back.

“Okay... Okay. I love you too, Sam. More than anything.”
