bow +1: with a twist? you ever want to sneak out after hours and tag up the place with house pride? maybe even transform the arrow-stains from earlier today into something better? while it's not necessarily something chad would ordinarily do, the inspiration and house spirit's gone a bit to his head, so he's willing to take a few risks...

faith +1: BERSERK STAFF. as someone who's familiar with this thang and got it pointed at them a good handful of times, they'd know it's bad news, and would likely be on the damage control end... unless?

any +1: kiddo time kiddo time kiddo time. while it's always fun puttiing him in the babysitter role we should swap that around and make chad tinier for once in his doggone life. woe, thou'rt no longer the eldest daughter.

bow +1: one tasked with tagging up the monastery and one with cleaning it... denning's been armed with soap water-filled arrows to try and counteract some of the new technicolor stains blooming in the monastery! i'm thinking of a roll-off to see if your muse can outpace denning's ability to clean.

auth +1: sir donald's moment. please expose denning to the horrors(?) of customer service. PLEASE watch in horror as they stick their hand into the fry oil.

any +1: maid cafe! what if their haunted doll swag and unfailing ability to follow orders actually made denning very popular. i think that would be funny.

faith +1: berserk staff. i think denning should do stupid things outside of their own control and have to face the consequences. victim side preferred!

👻 GHOST - do they believe in ghosts? what are their "ghostly experiences", if any?

// if you're nice to ghosts, they'll be nice to you. some have certain rules, some just kind of chill, others can't really do anything to you, is what chad believes, anyways. while he's not sure he's had any personal hauntings (though, that time he felt really bad taking a nice smooth rock from a riverbed until he returned it to the river a week later comes close), a healthy dose of skepticism in either direction and general respect towards your surroundings never hurts. there's a lot of weird things out there, and you can't count ghosts and spirits out just 'cause you can't see them.

// they're a flavor of skeptic for sure, but whenever the kids worried about monsters under their beds or things that went bump in the night, chad took their concerns very seriously while trying not to scare them. kids pick up on things better than a lot of adults do. it's good to listen to them. if anyone can see ghosts easier than others...

💤 SLEEPING - do they fall asleep easily? what helps them sleep?

// not really. besides kind of being a night owl, they've got a justified fear of sleep staves/induced sleep, ye olde traumatised child soldier ptsd and an overactive imagination to boot, so sleep comes to them fitfully; and due to their habit of trying to keep at least some kind of busy when in a bad mood, it also just feels like a waste of time with too much opportunity for the bad thoughts to crawl in.

// alone, they sleep lightly. they're pretty used to sharing beds though, so even just the weight/warmth of someone else nearby will make them feel a bit safer... failing that, occupying themself with counting bricks or pockmarks in the ceiling, a warm, soothing drink, or taking a nap with the onset of a food coma are some more consistent ways to get chad to sleep.

🍃 FALLING LEAF - do they enjoy being in nature? what is their favourite outdoor activity?

// yes, a thousand times yes. they like being cozied up indoors a lot on rainy or cold days, but the great outdoors has such a draw to them, too. whittling wood, working in the garden, kicking around hackey sacks, loafing around on roofs, playing like someone his age should be with marbles or sticks or tug-of-war or just wildly running around with the kids, making ridiculous roaring noises as they chase them and the little ones squeal with glee —

// it's hard to decide. he loves the sun, the wind, the rain, the snow, the clouds, all in different ways, but he loves them all the same. loves the markets, loves the alleys, loves the crates he can climb around on, loves the cobblestone under his feet.

// but his favorite thing to do is sit down somewhere on a nice day, sketch pad and charcoal in hand, and sketch whatever catches his fancy.

// but news that something happened again to someone their family, news of loss of a loved one? it would be something that happened, really happened, something that happened to someone else that they can't find a way to take the burden of. they've sworn off a repeat of that fateful, awful day, and if it happened again on their watch...

// aaah-hahaha. ooh, good ol' crying headcanon. he's "not a kid", he can't afford to cry, not when everyone's relying on him; if he's not calm and strong, everything's gonna fall apart — is what he believes. so he tries to keep his grief at bay with responsibility, and failing that, rage, snarling at it when it comes too close, draping it around himself like a shield.

// ... but between you and me, he's also an angry crier. he needs to hit a certain threshold of pure, blind frustration and rage and, in part, grief, because his grief is so entwined with his anger that he can't tell them apart sometimes, but when he hits it, he starts choking up and his eyes start burning and he hates it and it just makes the whole thing worse.

// they're trying to be angry, damn it. what do they have left if that last bastion turns on them like this? fuck, man.

🏊 SWIMMING - can they swim? or are they afraid of water? how well do they swim? how do they feel about swimming in the ocean?

// chad's just Fine at swimming. it's not great, but they won't sink like a rock. there's a major river pretty close to araphen, and they went there on day trips reasonably often to just fool around, catch frogs, wade around in the water, and so forth, and there's also a few decently sized ponds just Around that they learned how to swim passably well in.

// the ocean's... big, and daunting. it seems so easy to get swept away (something they were already worried about with the rivers and creeks), so they aren't too fond of the idea of swimming in the ocean... but a day at a sunny beach still sounds nice. they don't have to go too far in, and splashing water at eachother from the shallows is more than enough.

📖 OPEN BOOK - do they like reading? what's their favourite genre?

// though their dyslexia hampers them in their studies, and they don't enjoy reading for work, they'll gladly push past it to read a good work of fiction. they have a soft spot for fairytales, grand epics with ragtag groups, stories of honorable thieves and historical fiction, and if they're not too tired to focus, they'll gladly crack open a book as a little bit of a getaway. they're pretty good for siphoning inspiration from, too.

// it does take them a pretty long time to get through a whole book, though, and any books that pass through their hands often end up with the spines a bit more worn, a note or two they forgot to take out, and dog-eared pages...
