It’s definitely envy, it’s his fatal flaw. It’s what ate away at him until Athena advised on awarding Odysseus Achilles’s armor and he let it best him. No matter what he did, no matter how great he was said to be, he felt he was never given his due. He was always shadowed by someone else, someone who didn’t put in half the effort he did. Throughout his reincarnations, he’s gotten better at dealing with it, not letting it get to him as it did in the past. But it’s definitely an ongoing problem. It’s hard to keep going when everything you do is glossed over by someone else’s accomplishments. He yearns for recognition and perfection, but he always falls short and that’s his curse.
