You call yourself a hero? - Erin
The winds ravaged the landscape. Monsters lay slain, their limbs strewn carelessly across the landscape. A tiny figure stood in the middle of the storm. Her bright eyes brimmed with confidence as she stared straight ahead at the taller figure. Her pouty lips curled upwards carefully in a smile as she stared lovingly towards the former hunter.
“You call yourself a hero?”
Her words echo across the destroyed landscape. Buildings lay decimated, their strong structures had become dust, and what had once been their home was scorched black. Tori swallowed down, hands trembled as she stepped forward. She glance to the side, to the two bodies that lay there. The one to the left was Annabella, she laid curled up like a kitten, ginger locks draped across the charred grounds, and her chest rose and fell rhythmically. Tori was aware of the black and thick roots that wrapped around Anna. The roots snaked around her alabaster skin, under the folds of her dress, and across her lithe neck.
Tori’s attention shifted to Malix, the once fierce and strong devil stood frozen in time. Bright eyes widen by terror and surprise. A blackened arrow lay imbedded in his chest, the black arrowhead pierced through his heart, and poked through his back. His mouth was open just agape, his features contorted into that of pain and betrayal. He stared now at Erin whom stood unapologetic and unfazed by that sorrow-filled stare.
“E-Erin…”
Her voice was but a whimper. Her green eyes flashed with alarm. The young witch smiled her brown hair fluttered against the breeze.
“You have no monsters to fight, no more people to save, and we have come to our ending.”
Erin drew out her words. Her honey filled gazed had turned sour some time ago. Tori eyed the blackened roses that grew from her palms and the black thorns that snaked their ways up her forearms and around her fingers. Erin didn’t seem to mind or perhaps even notice. She walked forward, her white dress swished from side to side as she approached the hunter.
Tori swallowed down. She reached towards her side at the bat that rested by her side. Her bright eyes flashed a warning the witch didn’t acknowledge. She slunk forwards, lithe body pressed against Tori as she gazed up at her. Her smile had grown sweeter as her tiny fingers wrapped around Tori’s shoulders, the thorns biting into exposed flesh.
“Erin, do you know what you have done?”
Erin remained silent, her glossy lips lingered so tantalizingly close. Tori’s fingers loosened as she stared own at that familiar face. The scent of apples and laundry detergent washed around her and removed the scent of gore and death. The former hunter breathed in. She closed her eyes and fooled herself into thinking it would be alright.
“Tori, I want my happy end.”
Tori’s eyes shot open and she was aware of the coldness that ran through her veins. She felt the sharp bite of magic around her wrists, she cried out. She pulled against the magic only to feel the energy drained from her. The horrible sickening sound echoed through the destroyed landscape. Erin’s grip tightened as she leaned in closer, her warm body pressed against Tori’s own, and the two looked towards one another.
“I don’t want a hero… I don’t want a bad end…”
Her words seemed so melodic as they slipped past the damnable lips. She leaned upwards, her lips were a few inches away from Tori’s own. Even now she could see the determination behind Erin’s eyes. The thrones continued to grow and they moved their ways up their arms.
“All I want is…”
Her eyelids drooped as she pulled Tori closer. Magic swirled around them and moved their way up the former hunter’s exposed arm. The muscles pained as she dropped to the ground, Erin’s smaller form dropped on top of her, and easily pinned the hunter to the ground.
Tori felt the blood pour from her features, the tanned skin grew cool and white. Her green eyes darted from the spreading black magic that moved up the hunter’s arms and towards her shoulders. She grunted and tried to move but felt as if her limbs turned to stone.
“Erin, please… this is going to kill us.”
Erin shook her head, her face changed not into fear but that of longing. She reached her arms around Tori’s shoulders. Her legs straddled Tori’s waist.
“No, Tori…”
The thorns moved at the same pace as the stone. Tori hissed as the stone made it’s way up around Tori’s collarbone. She felt the heaviness and the coldness. Erin smiled the thorns gave bloom to more roses as it wrapped around her neck and torso. Her body was being constricted by the blackened vines. She leaned down.
“Now… I can get what I want. No angels, no monsters, and no distractions.”
Tori’s gaze flickered to the destroyed city, the darkened sky, and scorched ground. Erin remained unaffected as she finally caught Tori’s gaze full on. The stone had crawled it’s way over Tori’s neck and locked it in place.
“I finally get you.”
Erin’s lips captured Tori’s own. The softness ebbed away the feeling of cold feeling that crawled up her jawline. She looked towards Erin, her beloved, and her most precious. She could see as the blackened vines plunged into Erin’s chest, a singular red rose sprung up from the wound. Tori closed her eyes and felt the coldness take over. The world tingled as the light drifted away, sensory input vanished, and then there was a singular lingering thought on her mind: her Erin.
Erin stood up, body covered in vines, thorns, and roses. She looked around towards her lovers. To her left was Malix, her fierce and protective lover lost to time. He again would never escape to hell and leave her.
To her right lay Annabella, the former hunter and the former witch. She lay slumbering, her body covered in the roots of the earth. She would dream happy dreams until the end of time. No longer would she have to deal with the heartache of the waking world.
Before her lay her former hunter, the former hero, and now a statue. She would never return home covered in bruises and scratches. She would have to be frightened ever again.
Erin smiled such a sweet smile. Now no one could steal her loves away ever again.
