“It isn’t that I regret it, so much as I wish I would have left more options to myself. I think that when I agreed to be her lady, I didn’t understand what it would mean for me. I thought, in a foolish way, that I could be a puzzle piece that helps connect the realm. Instead, I’m only splintering my own relationships. Rhaena, Sarella, Kyra, and Persephone are all kind and good. My only wish is that they can find peace. I only wish that I could go home.”

“Persephone is always a match for my wits, though I believe her decisions to be more clouded with emotion than mine. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. There is also my dear friend Willem. However, he is frequently distracted by the consequences of his conquests. Eleanor Tully is quite bright. I believe Branden Stark is as well, but I am not so well acquainted with him. As much as I hate to admit it, Falhar is also a great mind of our age.”

“What you must understand about Kymaera is that no one posses her trust. There is no way to lose that which you do not have. My companions are the closest to family that I will ever know. I would slay armies of men for them, but I will never trust them. Kymaera’s ability to trust was bartered away long ago.”

“It would either come down to Persephone or Rhaena. Persephone due to her being very well informed and tactical. She could likely take me on note for note, whisper for whisper, and plan for plan if it came down to it. Rhaena for the exact opposite. She’s meant to bolster Arryk and all she does is make him look incompetent because she cannot keep her anger nor tongue in check. They say her father was a brilliant diplomat. He obviously could have tutored her further in that regard.”
