A Knock On The Door (1/2)
What's the lore with Itera?
Lore might be too strong a word.
Itera was just a quaint little frontier village. Yet another doomed attempt to make a settlement outside of the major cities. It was mostly agriculture-based, was situated on some pretty nice fertile land. Surrounded by forest on one side. Very idyllic.
It's where Renatus and Vesna spent their childhoods. It was their home.
But, it was destroyed. Not by Grimm, but by the Branwen Tribe on a raid. Led by Raven Branwen herself. Grimm was expected. Bandits were not.
Slaughtered the entire village. Set it on fire. The works.
Ren and Vesna's parents sacrificed themselves to buy the kids time to escape. And so they did, right into the Grimm infested woods where they would barely survive for six months until they were found and rescued.

The irony of posting a mom-centric pic on Father’s Day
Look, I haven’t designed daddy yet, okay? And I’ll get to adoptive daddy eventually.

Vesna blinked. It had just been an offhand comment. She... she hadn’t expected that to work. She glanced down at her own hands and then back to the understandably shocked woman in front of her. “You... you can hear me? You can see me? Can I...?”
She reached out and grabbed (actually grabbed!) the other woman’s wrist. She could touch her! She was physical! Vesna let go as quickly as she had grabbed on. She slapped a hand to her forehead and let out a laugh that sounded equally desperate and relieved. “I can’t believe it, I’m...” She trailed off, remembering that the person could see all of this.
“Sorry! Sorry! I’m not used to...” Corporeality. Existence. “Everything. I didn’t think you’d respond. So sorry! You’re having this big moment, and then I trample in with my stuff, and ugh. No, please, go on! You were venting! I don’t want to interrupt.”

Send a 🙌 and I’ll introduce you to an NPC related to my Muse.
Ianus Basilius - A member of Mistral’s council and the adopted father of Renatus. Competent, but overlooks details he views as unimportant in his quest for more power... Like how being responsible for Adrastia’s situation has turned her against him.
Vesna Phanes - The missing sister of Renatus. Unbeknownst to him, she haunts him like a guardian angel... or a shadow. Constantly wars with herself over the decisions she’s made in life, tearing herself apart. A schrodinger’s cat, of sorts.
Ra - The rebellious “Firstborn” of the God of Light (perhaps more accurate to call him a sentient aspect of his father). Took an interest in ancient humanity, even after his father forbade all divine interactions with them. Secretly became the god-emperor of the first civilization, until a witch ratted him out. Now forced to reincarnate endlessly in the guise of the humans he loved so much.
