I have no idea what I'm doing and there's nothing here yet obviously, but this is a side-blog to @diistortion for two very very very old Sonic the Hedgehog OCs based around the Archie Comics series as well as the SatAM cartoon series. Rarely will I take the IDW comics or games/movies as canon, but I will adapt for certain interactions.
Until I have redrawn these characters (I haven't drawn them or written for them since the early 2000s really), I'll just leave some notes for basic character summaries.
Reishii "Rei" Vex
Rei is a Russian Blue cat, male-presenting, and around this point in my life he would be about age 35 (maybe a few years younger, I haven't decided; typically things are set a decade or so after the end of the Great War). He is a veteran of the Great War, which led to King Acorn's advisor Julian Ivo Kintobor's hostile takeover as Robotnik in the wake of it during peacetimes. Aiding in the evacuation of the remaining citizens, Rei and several other former soldiers helped in securing and concealing what would become Knothole Village. At some point during a rescue mission, Rei was caught in a collapsing mining tunnel, his left arm becoming crushed and needing to be amputated. He would eventually be fitted with a cybernetic arm, though it would be several years before he was able to deal with the nerve damage and phantom limb syndrome fully, enduring intense physical therapy. He's become a bit self-isolating, not dealing well with PTSD from the war and the cave-in, but he's generally amiable and even a bit reckless when needed for a mission.
Elliot
Elliot is a male deer appearing around age 40, tall and ruddy-colored with some greying fur and a white streak in his hair. For all intents and purposes, there is nothing that would suggest that he is anything other than what he appears to be, but in reality he is a robot decoy that was imprinted with the memories and personality of a now-deceased prisoner of war that was being held by Robotnik (in-canon reference). Officially known as an Auto-Automaton in the Archie Comics series. Elliot is aware that something about him is not quite right, and enough people knew the original Elliot to know that some of his mannerisms and memories are a bit "off", but they tend to chalk it up to lingering trauma from his imprisonment in Robotropolis. Elliot is, at his core, a liability. There is no telling when or if his Infiltrator Protocol will be triggered, endangering the Freedom Fighters either physically or by betraying their location and security measures. He maintains a generally amiable personality, though he can be seen as strict and stoic to those that don't know him well. He functions largely as an investigator (or detective, if needed), and is well-versed in cracking security measures (seemingly from his time in Robotropolis).
