“Now you have to promise you won’t make any sudden movements okay? I’ve been working with the little guy since he hatched, he’s a lot more docile and well mannered than most of his kind, he won’t have any interest in hurting you, you’re perfectly safe. But it’s easier for him to get scared around new people, so if you’re nervous and jumpy he’ll pick up on it very quickly. If you’re uneasy, he’ll naturally feel like he should be uneasy too. Even scared he most likely won’t want to lash out, you’re a lot bigger so his instinct will be to run away. I just don’t want to cause him unnecessary stress so... Just move slow, let him come to you and decide the pace he feels comfortable with. He’s warmed up to new people in the past fairly quickly when he feels safe around them, so I’m sure he’ll become comfortable with you in no time..” Yixing ran the other witch through things for no doubt the tenth time since she’d gotten here. His shop was closed for the time being, not wanting anyone interrupting something like this. Opening the door into the storage room Yixing was instantly met with the familiar trilling of the hatchling, the happy sounds only getting louder as he moved to open it’s cage, waiting until the door to the room had been closed before actually allowing the small dragon out in the  open. “I brought someone for you to meet. Her name is Jia, and she’s a very nice person. Go say hello.” The healer instructed softly, a smile on his lips as the dragon flew over to the female, keeping a little distance as it circled around her a few times before gingerly landing on her shoulder. It still seemed a little wary as it tilted it’s head to look at the stranger, soft whistles of curiosity sounding from the small creature.

Dabin had brought Xion with him on a simple runner job just to keep the jiangshi from being alone at the hideout for too long. However, the beta had made him stay behind while he made the actual hand off a few blocks down. He had only planned on being away for ten minutes tops, he figured it was better than being on his own for hours back home. What he hadn’t thought about though was anyone bothering Xion while we was gone. Yixing was on his way home after a visit with his mother, he had been in good spirits, not to mention heavily medicated, all up until he picked up the jiangshi’s emotions screaming out from him so loudly it was impossible to ignore. Even being under the influence as much as he was, Yixing felt his arms wrap around himself as if to provide a slight feeling of comfort as his feet instinctively brought him towards the source of such sadness. It was too complicated to understand all of the feelings he was registering at first, everything so muddled but so strong that even Yixing was having a rough time sorting through it all. Finally getting close enough that he could see the source of it all the witch tried to force out a smile, knowing it wouldn’t appear happy in the slightest, but considering it all it was just a miracle he was able to force a smile at all. 

“Hello.... Ah, I hope I’m not bothering you or anything... Actually, I know this is all going to sound kind of weird, but... I uh... I just want to help you. Just um... D-do you have a few minutes to talk?”

It was actually a good day for Yixing for once. He didn’t run into any overpowering sources of emotion, enough so that he wasn’t overly doped up like normal either. It was just... Nice. Taking the opportunity to enjoy the outside air the witch wandered around town, ending up in a nearby park and walking on the trails enjoying nature. Despite it being a good day, there was a slight moodiness to it, more emotional turmoil than originally planned, however it didn’t take long for Yixing to zero in on the source, forcing a smile to his lips as the healer walked over and gently tapped the stranger’s shoulder. 

“Excuse me, I hope I’m not bothering you. Can I just ask you something real quick? I promise I’ll try not to be a pest.”

Dog Days || Closed ||

It wasn’t uncommon for Yixing to take care of the local strays, often leaving out food for the occasional cat that looked too thin for his liking, even keeping the door to his shop open on nice days to allow a space for them to relax and lay down. It wasn’t too often, after all the witch wasn’t looking to become a shelter, however his need to help covered all living things, not just humans. There was a dog that had been hanging around the area lately, terribly shy and too skinny for the witch’s liking. Just seeing the animal around had Yixing putting out food every day, always keeping it at a distance that no other people would bother the area, not wanting to scare the canine from the only source of food he might have. He tried to get the animal used to him, just standing far enough away to not be seen as a threat, his only goal to simply be in sight. He wasn’t ever going to be one to push animals out of their comfort zone, and if the dog ever came to him, he’d be glad and attempt to help even more, but if that ever happened wasn’t his choice. 

Yixing was content with just putting out the food every night whether he caught sight of the stray or not, but his routine became threatened when a storm rolled in. It had been pouring all day, with the rest of the night expected to be the same. Not wanting to break his habit for the stray’s sake, the witch ended up closing the shop early just to put a tent out where he normally put the food. Making sure it was completely protected from the rain the healer stocked the new shelter up with pillows and blankets for comfort, sticking the usual food just inside as well. The entire set up had the witch soaked by the end of it all, but Yixing didn’t mind in the least about that, he just worried about if the dog would be trusting enough to use the resources put out for him. The witch had a rough time sleeping, more from being worried than anything else. He would wake up every so often, getting up the instant he no longer heard the rain to check outside. The weather still wasn’t nice, but at least the wind and rain had died down. Looking towards the tent Yixing didn’t want to get close without knowing the animal wouldn’t react badly, and that was even if it did go inside and stay there for the entire night. With a soft smile on his face the witch leaned towards the temporary home for the dog, speaking low and slow not wanting to shock the animal more than necessary. 

“Did you find where I put your food in there? The rain didn’t get in, did it? If I get you more blankets you won’t bite me when I go to put them in there for you, right? If I go nice and slow you’ll know I’m just trying to help you, right?”

It was strange to have Jinsun around him at a time like this, hell his behavior probably seemed strange to his friend as well. The council had been generous enough to assign him missions that had no human interaction, so while normally Jinsun had his usual doped up and goofy personality, this serious side of him was probably a big surprise. But not as surprising as the other witch being here in the first place. 

“So, Minsu’s making you learn magic, huh?” He asked, eyes narrowing slightly as he walked further into the crypt, fingers brushing against the old stones. “At least the council let you tag along with me instead of some other witch. This way I won’t have to worry about something getting to you.”

Magical Reunion || Closed ||

“Alright, we’re almost there... Jeez, this plateau is way higher up than I last remember.... Now remember, be prepared. He’s a lot bigger than the last time you saw him.” It had been a while since Yixing had seen the dragon too, but he’s seen how large the juvenile had gotten with the plentiful room of the open air out here. He found this place to be the safest for him, a wildlife reserve, only the first portion available to tourists but the rest was blocked unless special permission was granted. A few geologists here and there, some well known wildlife photographers during the springtime, but no hobbyist hickers, no campers, no sea of tourists... He could be out in the open and not have to hide constantly. It’s what he deserved, but of course Yixing made sure to put a few wards down after a few visits and he learned the area the creature liked to linger. The healer knew he couldn’t coddle it excessively and protect it completely, Tianlong’s existence would always have it’s risks along with it, nothing would ever be 100% sure to keep him safe, but a little help wouldn’t hurt either. The dragon was smart, Yixing was willing to bet with a home so secluded and with his survival tactics he’d worked into the dragon ever since it was a hatching, the witch expected to be long dead by the time  Tianlong also left this world. At least, he hoped he would go on to live a full life. 

“I’m sure he’ll remember you, but... Remember, this is his home. He’s been away from people for a while now, and while he hasn’t ever gotten aggressive, that doesn’t mean it can’t happen. If he shows any signs of not being thrilled we’re here, any at all no matter how small, we say our goodbyes and leave. It’s just a safety thing... I trust him, and if I were alone I’d be a lot more lenient with him because I raised him but... I’m not risking anyone else. So.. Just keep that in mind.” It was his final last minute warning before his steps came to a halt, eyes focusing up into the clouds above. “ Tianlong! Tianlong! I brought a friend of yours to visit!” Yixing called out, letting the next few seconds pass by patiently. At first it seemed like nothing would answer his call, whatever direction they looked was void of any large creatures. Surely if it was around, they’d see it coming... Or not. Nearly half a minute since the healer called out there was a low rumble from the clouds above, a heavy fog filling the area around the plateau, storms started to form around the thick wall of mist hiding them from view. It was only then that the huge serpent emerged down from the clouds above, body swirling and sliding down into the empty space in front of the two witches. “Jia, you remember the little hatching that could weave between your fingers and curl up small enough to fill the palm of your hand... This is him now that he’s reached his early adolescent stage. Think you can make a flower crown big enough for him now?”

I Was Wrong, You Were Right || Closed ||

“You realize how much I hate this plan, right?” The archer sounded like a broken record, this being about the twelfth time he was saying this. Still, he knew he couldn’t change it. As much as he hated it, it was the best plan they had. He wasn’t even supposed to be assigned this mission anyway, it was just a last minute change and Jinsun got dragged into it only because he was the only person that could block Yixing from the emotions of others. Magical creatures, he could handle, warlocks and other witches, they had emotions, they could play him like a damn fiddle as long as he was alone. 

He was already in position, an arrow already notched ready for the plan to begin. Double checking his own things and running over the plan once more in his head, Yixing was looking down over the soon to be battlefield as he forced his heart to calm down. He couldn’t be accurate with his shots if he was panicking like this. “Alright, Jinsun, I’m ready up here. Start your distraction, I’ll have your back.”
