Trigun fandom news report because I'm awake before my alarm. Hey, I'm Pistols and I lurk!

The recent Trigun adaptation (Trigun Stargaze) is so slop we're getting drama between love and peace drones (who like pretty colors and aren't critical of the media. AND THATS OKAY) and the skepticalgaze sect (that are disappointed and upset about the source material being shat on. WHICH IS UNDERSTANDABLE)... Sighs. The hype around "Stargaze Saturday" has significantly died down as the season goes on, due to immeasurably disappointing content. We've got racist caricatures and horrific whitewashing, bad system/plural rep from a 90s source that did it well, continual sidelining and mother-child coding of previously strong female characters (and erasing and intantilizing a canon and explicitly described trans woman), horrific implications about incestual abuse... The list goes on. There's quite a few retcons and inconsistencies even between the first season (Trigun Stampede), which was overall a lot stronger as a show... I think there's only one or two episodes left to come out before the series is over (as of writing this) and it's not looking good. I've been observing multiple bubbles of fans ranting and talking about rewrites, of which some fun ideas are floating around! Keep an eye out for an influx of "Fix-it" fics I suppose 👀

In other news it seems the inc•st shippers (kv in particular) have banded together and the fandom is largely divided cleaner these days? The line has been drawn in the sand for the most part, and groups seem to be sticking to their own sides. It's been a bit since I particularly have caught wind of someone popular being "ousted", as the policing has partially fallen out of fashion and partially become exhausted. Unfortunately the ao3 side is not tagging effectively and plantc•st is unable to be filtered from other content very well, so members of the fandom who would respectfully like to curate their experiences... are not getting the opportunity. I can imagine that's pretty frustrating.

In good news, lots of art is flooding various media as participants in the fanzine Love and Lassos have been permitted to post their pieces (lots of alliteration there lol). Lots of lovely art and fic! I wasn't able to get a physical copy, but perhaps I'll see about a digital one.

There's also been a bigger push to encourage the reading of the Trigun manga Trigun and Trigun Maximum as a way to divert negative feelings about the recent anime adaptation into positive feelings about the original writing. I personally agree - reading Trigun Maximum is a really fun experience, and my husband is very passionate about it for a good reason!

I struggled so bad with making a singular internet persona or fursona or whatever bc even if I designed one solidly around "how I am right this second" I'd look back and be like. That's not me at all hello. I can't use this. And make another. And then even that one's not right the next day. And the eternal struggle.

AND THEN SOMETIMES ITS JUST GONE. "yeah I genuinely can't perceive myself at all. I can't even picture how I look even though I've looked in the mirror innumerable times in my 20+ years of life". Like what.

Existing as you are and being surprised by the mirror or photos because it's so drastically off. Moving different, speaking different, people commenting on it and then spiralling because you don't know why, because you didn't notice, now you have to psychoanalyze and identify and restrain every action down to how you breathe in order to be "right" and it's so exhausting and it makes you want to scream with how hard it is and how wrong it feels to be One and why can't you just be a single being?? It's so easy for literally everyone else to be One Person, who makes sense and doesn't contradict themselves constantly and is consistent and balanced.

And then you realize it's because you're literally multiple people and it's like. Oh okay so if I just commit to the bit im literally fine. And happy even. It's so easy to be as fluid as the ocean, to go with the tide instead of trying to charge through it. The people who love me will see me and love each of us just the same. I am fluid and that's okay.

Kicking the hornets nest posting this last bit but you can just. Try out being plural if it helps you in any way. Like trying on any other label. If you read through articles about plurality/DID/OSDD/CDD/etc and the framework and want to try it out... you can. Even if it's just in your head, especially if it's just for you! The telepaths and god and whiny internet police aren't gonna get you. You can just do that. Fuck anyone else who thinks they can police what's ultimately between you and yourself (and yourself and yourself and- /silly).
