Parker's foot tapped anxiously as he took another sip of the scotch. He pursed his lip at both the harsh taste and in frustration. His eyes were fixated on the screen, finger hovering over the green button. “Just call.” the voice in his head said for the twentieth time in the last hour. Parker wanted to hit the button, and finally relieve himself of this curiosity. It’d been a year, 3 months and 8 days, and Parker couldn’t help but find himself wondering if they made the right decision. He missed her even though that ship was long sailed. After the exchange they’d tried for a few weeks to make it work, but it wasn’t there anymore. The passion they once shared had vanished, despite how hard they tried to rekindle it. Eventually even Parker couldn’t bare to keep up the charade. It wasn’t for a lack of love, or will, the simple truth was he knew their time had passed. Yet the memory of Cassandra leaving still stung, perhaps it always would. Parker took a deep breathe and held back his tears, finally willing him to hit the call button. Hesitantly the man picked up the phone, setting down his drink. It took a few moments, put after three rings there was a click. “Hello..” Parker said, almost phrasing the word as a question.
