Sorry Karen loving vagina doesn’t make up for the fact that your only personality trait is being snarky
Get this... Some trans people... Are gay... And... They are valid.
if you associate womanhood with danger and pain then thats YOUR internalized sexism, not mine
@ 'Terfs'
So, I'm not usually a very confrontational person, so this reaction was actually pretty out of character for me, but a little while back I decided to have a conversation with a Terf who was harassing my pal @peony-tale over a post he made.
It was actually pretty enlightening in terms of where you guys stand by which I mean it revealed exactly how dumbass the majority of you seem to be.
The specific person I spoke to, talked to me and said, 'I'm not transphobic, I don't want trans people to go away or die. I just have a different understanding of feminism in that I think it's primarily sex-based' (as in Biological sex being the reason for discrimination).
So, I asked, "well why do you call yourself a Terf if you don't actually align yourselves with the majority of ideas people associate with them."
This lady said, 'Well nobody ever talks to me to ask-- I just get blocked because someone puts me on a block list. I wasn't originally a Terf, people just called me one enough that I started using it for myself.'
So here's some points.
A) there will always be people who accuse you and are in the wrong, it doesn't mean you are what they say you are (this person in particular said she got called a Terf over a joke about clipping her nails to do with her wife). But if you take the word that is widely recognised for being used for people who are genuinely bad people and want trans people to die, you align yourselves with them. You can't expect anyone to want to talk to you when the first thing they see on your blog is you self-identifying as a Terf from the get-go. It's ridiculous. There will always be people who accuse others or take things out of context but you are not in any way then obligated to take up that label.
B) from my perspective, no-one should be excluded from feminist movements, regardless of gender. I actually thing everyone should be, if you want a movement to be effective you make it as inclusive as possible to anyone it might apply to. And yes, whilst women (and yes I'm including trans women here) should have the loudest voice, others should still get to speak out on the same issues. In the case of feminism being sex based overall? I disagree with that, but there are issues that inherently relate to biology and once again the people with the most say should be the people that the issue directly relates to, but others should still be heard.
You, as say, a cis woman, saying "I'm discriminated against based on my biological sex" and a trans woman standing up next to you and saying, "yeah! She is! And other women are discriminated against in different ways too!!" Isn't taking a movement away from you or disagreeing with you. If you support the same end goal, there's no reason as to why you shouldn't allow that person to speak on equal ground with you.
C) for god's sake let people make jokes and talk. The issue with peony arose from him jokingly saying "Artemis and Aphrodite team up to destroy terfs". Whilst this was someone joking, it also has a real application.
People who speak about these Goddesses for some reason make everything about them to do with cis women and biological sex and Since Artemis 'Hates Men' She Must Also Hate 'Fake Women'. No. Source your shit, you applying your opinion to a deity older than you can comprehend isn't valid. There are myths about this shit for a reason. I'd say the people who documented the original belief 2000 years ago are probably more accurate than you, now.
(Yes go and look it up, Artemis did not hate men you're just mean. Peony sourced this earlier but I'm tired. Anyway Aphrodite helped dudes out too- even weirdo dudes- @Pygmalion and Galatea. Plus in Greek myths wasn't there a trans hero if I'm remembering correctly who was impervious?)
I don't personally believe in Aphrodite and Artemis and all that, but religious movements shouldn't be exclusive of people who want to be there and you shouldn't get to dictate what would and would not be accepted by a concept that is far, far older than you.
That's about it-- anyone got any questions? I'm here all forever.
@spookytrickster This is it. The perfect reaction. The internet is over. Go home.
