It’s not often that Chanyeol decides to use public transportation. The reason being his love for his motor cycles- they offer him the kind of exhilaration that nothing else does, as well as a sense of freedom. Speed. Why would he give that up for anything in the world?
Save for when the rainy season begins. That’s just not doable at all. Water pours down from the skies for days on end and the streets are flooded. Chanyeol might be rash and impulsive, but he’s not stupid. He’s not going to get himself killed on his motor bike, that’s for damn sure, and to him the thought of being somehow terribly injured in an accident is even more frightening. What would he possibly do with himself if he ended up in a wheel chair or something? It’s not a happy thought, so he doesn’t think about it and does the right thing. He swallows his pride and does what everyone else does, gets on the damn subways and buses.
This bus though is not an ordinary bus. It’s a long distance one, an express bus from Seoul to Busan, because Chanyeol has been summoned there for a consultation. It’s nearing a public holiday however, so trains are packed already, and he couldn’t get a ticket. A bus was his only option. It’s still uncomfortably full and he starts squirming in his seat half an hour into the trip- he has way too many hours ahead of him, and that frustrates him to no end. He lowers his seat and puts it back up and lowers it again, and then settles for jiggling his leg and playing games on his phone even though that does absolutely nothing in the long run.
And then there’s a hand on his shoulder, nudging him, and he sits up straight and stares at the boy over the head rest of his seat with confusion written all over his face. What? His eyes are wide and his mouth is hanging open like the dumbass that he is ( not ). If only he wasn’t deaf…
Sin really didn’t mean to bother the other male at all, didn’t want to bother him. There was just a moment of surprise where Sin was startled when the chair first leaned back and ended up dropping his phone on the ground. He was quick to retrieve it. But when he noticed the chair had moved back up -- only to come back down, Sin couldn’t help but find himself a little concerned (and a little cramped) by it.
He was on a mission from Mommy. Something about going to pick up another kid who lived in Busan who needed an out as soon as possible. Being the kindhearted person Mommy had grown into, she couldn’t let them stay in such a toxic environment. Especially when the kid’s father was sexually abusive and was threatening her. Mommy didn’t feel right asking the girl to come alone from Busan, after the girl managed to escape from her home and find a safe hiding spot, so she sent Sin to meet her instead.
Which made Sin feel good that he could be trusted with such a task but the current situation currently snatches his attention from his mission. So he reaches forward and asks them to move their chair up -- only to be met with a confused expression.
It’s something of a sixth sense, for him to be able to tell the other is similar to him or shares an important characteristic with him. Sin, all too easily, can recognize the confusion he sees in the other male’s expression. He almost can see himself in his position instead, especially when Sin’s leaning forwards and on the male’s right side -- the same side that Sin’s deaf in.
So it’s with an understanding, and partially apologetic, smile that Sin leans back, raises his hands and signs at the other as his lips move along with silent words. A quick gesture of greeting just to make sure that he’s correct in his assumptions before he signs anything else. He might think he knows what’s going on but he doesn’t want to be wrong, in case he offends the other.
