it was almost 2:00 a.m. by the time reese got home. in the past, he would sneak back in, careful not to wake ket, kai, or the dogs. but tonight was clearly different when he slammed the door and ran towards ket’s room. he was out all night at a sketchy bar which he only got into because it was also technically a restaurant, where he heard talks of a streetrace somewhere inconvenient. reese was inspired. he hadn’t seen much of kitket in a while, and it wasn’t just his fault. the racer couldn't help but think she might be in a funk. there was no way she was ignoring him on purpose. the atmosphere of the place might be just what she needed, and, if need be, he’d take her to watch the race, too. “ket ket ket ket ket !” he banged on her bedroom door. “i know you’re probably asleep, but we gotta talk, man ! a-s-a-p ! ”

reese yawned, shuffling out of his room only to plop himself down on the living room couch. what a productive day, he thought to himself sarcastically before sighing out loud and getting up to walk back to his room, almost completely giving up on the day. that is, until he walked past ket’s room and realized they hadn’t had any best friend/roommate bonding time in quite a while. reese banged on her door, hoping he hadn’t woken her up. “yo, ket,” he called through the door. “get up, please. we have cookies and cupcakes that need baking !! ”
