Amelie continued to examine her work int he reflection of her phone’s screen, brows pressing together with disapproval. “Not an option,” she replied, lowering the device. She canted her head to the side, her attention now upon him. “I need to look the way I feel. And I don’t feel like a prepubescent boy.” It was a self directed insult, sure, but its purpose served to deter him from asking anything deeper than the superficial conversation she preferred to hold.
