Semi-Hiatus

{{ So I’ve just seen a clip of older Teddy in the last episode of TWP on YouTube. On the one hand, I really like Albert in the role, and I imagine that’s probably something like how Warwick would have responded to meeting his nephew. (I don’t think such a meeting would have ever happened, but the concept of him meeting his sister’s family after years of semi-isolation is one that’s always interested me.) The scene is both unsettling and heart-wrenching.

On the other hand, can we just clarify that he wasn’t kept in squalor?? I get that making the Tower look like a dungeon heightens the sense of tragedy, but leaving him to rot there  implies that his status as Earl of Warwick meant nothing . Historically, we know he had servants, because they get involved in the plot with Warbeck later, so he would not have been sitting in the dark playing with filthy apple cores. (I admit the parallel with the apples in the scene before is pretty neat though). Do I think he lived in the lap of luxury? Of course not. But I think it makes far more sense to attribute his increasing mental instability to the sheer length of time he spent stuck in the Tower rather than to his living conditions in the Tower themselves. }}
