“CAN YOU RUN AFTER US WHEN WE LEAVE … SCREAMING AND WAVING YOUR ARMS AROUND?” // On a summer excursion in a vibrant yellow convertible filled with Dorcas, Lily, Marlene, and Emmeline the two of them were dared to dine and dash. Their friends bet them the rest of their spending money that they wouldn’t do it. As Marlene and Emmeline awaited in the car, discussing what they’d buy with their newfound galleons, Dorcas and Lily had an existential crisis as they finished slurping down the strawberry milkshake they were sharing. After they respectively and discreetly paid the bill, the young waitress agreed to chase them as they made a faux dramatic exit.
“CLAMP YOUR KNEES!” “CLAMP MY KNEES?!” // Dorcas and Lily were cuddled together on the couch and discussing the love triangle of Twilight ( Dorcas is totally Team Jacob ) when baby Potter decided it was time to make his big debut. The following ten minutes would consist of Dorcas screaming and hurriedly dressing herself in the clothes she could find laying around ( which happened to belong to James — she wore his dirty shirt, his swimming trousers, and his boots to St. Mungo’s ) as Lily calmly stared from the doorway, hospital bag draped over her shoulder. Her screams carried through to the hospital where she berated nearly everyone she saw until Lily was safely tucked away in a room.
“DID YOU GUYS … FORGET SOMETHING?” // It was Christmastime and the Hogwarts alumni were doused in holiday cheer. The two volunteered to make pies for their gift exchange and hours upon hours were spent making sure each and every single one was perfect — they also vowed not to use magic. The two proudly handed out servings to their friends, who all simultaneously spit the pies back on the plate after their first bite. “LILY POTTER, YOU WERE IN CHARGE OF SUGAR!” “DORCAS MEADOWES, I SWEAR, I’M SAYING THE FILTHIEST THINGS ABOUT YOU IN MY HEAD RIGHT NOW.” Their argument was swiftly interjected with a comment from Sirius Black, inquiring about said filthy thoughts. The two made up upon hitting the back of his head in unison.
“GOODBYE, DEAR FRIEND.” // The casualties that came with the war were tremendous. Unfortunately, not everyone got the proper goodbye they deserved. Lily and Dorcas were always the two to pull themselves together and make final arrangements for their fallen friends. The death of Marlene McKinnon was the first that truly struck all of them, and as promised long before, Lily and Dorcas made sure she received the farewell she so desperately deserved. While Lily was an absolute wreck, Dorcas had yet to shed a tear. It wasn’t until Marlene’s memorial concluded that Lily brought it up, Dorcas’s lip immediately quivering through a smile. “Only one of us can fall apart at a time, you know?”
