We all assume the scientists gave Spider his name because he was climbing all over the place as a kid.

But tbh, when I think of animals that climb well, a spider isn't even coming to my mind.

So in my world it's a reference to:

A) a spider-web which connects and holds everyone together🕸

B) Spider Man (self-sacrificing orphan who wants to help everyone and tries to change his enemies to be better people🦸‍♂️

C) Spiders are metaphoric for being sneaky and cunning. Looking at you Mr. "I'll cry in front of my dad to get his dog tags and then flee with them. Later on I'll guilt-trip him into saving my life🤭".
