{ my apologies for how sketchy it is! i've come down with a case of strep and it's taken just about all my energy, but i hope the concepts suffice <3 }

Sage Gideon Collins, often called by his nickname "Savage" by his little sister, became the estranged child of the Collins family after he turned 18. With his parents growing distant, neglectful, and careless after the loss of a family friend, Sage was required to help raise his sister almost all on his own. With his own struggles and needing to still grow up on his own, only having been 13, Sage slowly ended up resenting his little sister for merely being a child and making mistakes. He moved out the night of his birthday, and Rosemary, who was getting ready to start high school, never saw him again, and he didn't care.

He only came back years later when he'd gotten word his parents had been killed in a car crash. Rosemary was nowhere in sight, and it pissed him off. He spent weeks working alone on getting their childhood home emptied and ready to be sold, when one morning he got a call.

He found out Rosemary had moved to a little dump-town called Erringston in Kansas after living with their parents made her feel more and more like a burden, financially and in general, and she'd decided to move in with their grandparents. But now, Grandma Helena and and Grandpa Elias were dead, and Rosemary had been hoping her parents were available to discuss her moving back in, as she'd begun to grow afraid. Of what, she didn't disclose, but Sage was not happy. He told her the details of how her parents had left the night of her 20th birthday, wanting to celebrate it even without her. They'd died in a crash, and if it hadn't been for her, her moving out, her need to have EVERYTHING, then none of this would have happened. The last words Sage ever said to his sister were "If you hadn't moved out, they wouldn't be dead, and I wouldn't be stuck cleaning up the mess you left by being born."

He hung up on her.

He was drunk the night he heard about their grandparents' old cabin burning to the ground, no body recovered.

He laughed.

So how'd you get started with witchcraft, Rosemary?

" There was a park near my house when I was younger. It was still the summer before my Junior year in high school that night. My parents were drinking again, so I needed to get out of the house. "

" There weren't a whole lot of trees there normally. That night was different. It was like a forest. But I was so desperate for an escape just for an hour or two till my parents passed out. "

" There was a clearing, a rock in the middle, perfect to sit on. I would've missed it, if something hadn't caught my eye. As well as the fact it... he called out to me. "

" He wasn't human. I thought he was at first, but then I saw the extra eyes. And his hand, it wasn't normal. His fingers looked like insect legs. This man, this thing, he had such an air to him, of longing and yearning, of hated and violence. But all he did was sit there, watch my reactions. I couldn't tell if he wanted to kill me or not, his eyes told me nothing. All I know is one thing: He was both beautiful and absolutely terrifying. "

" Everything I felt was icy. I froze when he asked. But a part of me, the one who'd been suffering and begging for an end to my current life... it had wanted to answer him. Wanted, needed someone to talk too. And something in me understood that he was willing to listen. Forever.

I didn't though. My common sense had thankfully stayed with me, and it was much louder than the darker parts of me. I ran without giving him any answer, and did I run like hell. I think it was the fastest I'd ever run in my life. I double-checked the house that night to make sure everything was locked. When I went back to the park days later, the stranger and the dark forest had gone. I did so much research, but I no longer think the classification I gave him of Fae fits. Fae don't normally have multiple eyes, do they? He gave off more of an energy like the Entity does. Spiderlike, hungry. But I do not think he is the Entity that trapped me here. Regardless, that encounter led me down a rabbit hole. I ended up isolating even more from any social circles, but that was okay, as none had been willing to let me in in the first place. "

" Come to think of it, that encounter's around when I started wearing ribbons in my hair... I think he had one tying up his hair... hmm...

🌹 - Rosemary (The Gentle Witch)

How she always has: Silent and alone.

Though it couldn't exactly be called coping. More like shoved down and sobbed out later. She'd had depression since she was young, and honestly who could blame her, especially now? Being trapped as an endless plaything in the Entity's realm is pretty damn depressing. She was never on meds, so the one plus is she doesn't have to deal with medication withdrawal.

On her bad days, she'll deal with it out of sight. A trip into the forest, alone at her camp. If she seemed more quiet and aloof that day, it's likely she's crying somewhere when she's alone at the end of the day. But even then, she'll still hide it with a smile when you see her again.

If it's a real bad day though, in trials she'll be a lot more altruistic. Though it's a more reckless kind, a recklessness that will likely get herself hooked instead of her teammates. Especially at the End Game, where it's a "one person definitely won't make it" scenario. It almost forces her teammates to have to leave her behind, though of course that's not personal. It's just survival.

Despite having people she can kind of trust and talk too, it's likely she won't. She can't get used to having people there for her. You'd probably have to catch her crying to get her to tell you anything, and even then, it's pretty sparse. Emotions in the Entity's realm are pretty pointless when you think about it. Of course everyone's miserable. Hers shouldn't matter any more than someone else's. At least, not from her perspective. Nobody wants to hear her whine about how little good she feels she actually does by existing. In her eyes, that should be the least of anyone's concern.

Even then, it's still better than home. She can take her anger and sadness out on herself in a more indirect way, because it's the killers doing it for her. It's not in her control, yet she still gets what she wants, which is some sort of punishment.

She doesn't really want to die, she just wants to be able to stop blaming herself for everything. It's hard, because she really does think everything is her fault, despite that idea being completely irrational. You can thank her brother for searing that thought into her head. At the least, by sacrificing herself for her teammates, she thinks she does some sort of good by keeping the Entity from devouring another bit of their hope. Despite her doubts and self-hatred, she's still got plenty of hope that things will get better in some way, somehow. They have too. Evil can't exist without good. And that's what's kept her going, and kept her from being tossed into the Void.

So let the Entity eat it up. She's got all the time in the world.
