Confessions and platitudes weren’t exactly Quinn’s strong suit. Certainly not to those who clearly didn’t care, but maybe now, in the silence of the room that was no longer filled with brutish moans and sex-soaked heat, he could allow himself a bit of honesty.
“You remind me of the first man I loved.” Quinn gave a motion to his own jaw, tracing it. “Same... dark stubble. Same dark features. Same dark heart. But it opened for me, just a little. Enough that I came in.” With a caustic smirk, he turned, eyes tracing along the frame of the man who seemed so known to him, despite the unfamiliarity. “He took my sealskin. Kept me for his own. It made me hate him. I would have come back for him every day, but...” He glanced off again, sinking into the edge of the bed, his elbows digging into his thighs, hands clasped between. “I’m stuck between wanting to stay and wanting to run. Just like I was then.”
